The Ascent

A fun top-down shooter set in a Cyberpunk world. So far I am enjoying the story in co-op with my partner, and the combat is really fun especially with different augmentations, weapons, and tactical gear available. There are some bugs in co-op. If you and another player interacts with a vendor at the same time it can cause one of the players to get locked into a screen and the only way to fix is ALT-F4. But other than the small bugs, I have been enjoying running around and looking at the amazing visuals and environment. There's quite a few weapons available and the further you are into the game, the more weapons and armour becomes available to loot and purchase. The controls are simple and having controller support, it's a great twin stick game. I highly recommend this game 👍

The Ascent is a gorgeous, adrenaline‑soaked cyberpunk romp that made me feel like I’d been dropped into a neon‑lit fever dream and handed a very loud gun. Combat is tight and brutal, the world is dense with detail, and every rooftop firefight feels cinematic equal parts “I planned this” and “how am I still alive?” What hooked me most was the atmosphere: towering megacorps, claustrophobic arcologies, and a soundtrack that pushes you forward even when your ammo doesn’t. The RPG systems give you real choices in builds and playstyle, and the loot loop actually rewards experimentation. Co‑op turns the chaos into pure joy coordinated pushes and frantic revives are the kind of moments you’ll brag about later. It’s not flawless some UI rough edges and occasional performance hiccups show up but they never kill the fun. If you want a stylish, punchy shooter with weighty combat, smart progression, and a world that oozes personality, The Ascent is absolutely worth your time. Strap in, aim true, and enjoy the fall into corporate hell.

Extremely buggy, lots of crashes, painfully slow walking speed.

Atmospheric arcade shooter with RPG-like elements makes for a solid experience. One aspect of the game that never got old was the detailed environments that perfectly capture the cyberpunk vibe. The gameplay, however, doesn't offer a lot of depth, but is fun nonetheless and doesn't outstay its welcome (~25 hours). Skill points distribution, simple crafting system, lots of guns to choose from, and ample cosmetics rounds out what was a very fun game.
