Bottom line is this is the most realistic racing simulator (steering feel with a direct drive wheel) you can get today. I am a performance driving instructor and race endurance cars in real life and train with AMS2.
This is in my opinion the best SIM on the market as you can see by my absurd amount of hours. the AI is great though still needs some slight improvements. The cars feel and sound great. The DLC the best. And one of the only game I have All DLC for. Would I recommend it yes. So much so I’ve bought it 4 times for other people.
Amazing game, ran 40 FPS when used 720p resolution. Then rather than using full screen use magnifier in windows for consistent frames.
Nice variety of cars and tracks. The game looks and sounds good, and it runs on almost anything with a GPU made in the last 10 years. Even the expensive DLCs don't really bother me. The physics ruin this "simulator" for me. It's hard to describe, but every car understeers and when they finally do oversteer, the slide is almost impossible to catch. Very frustrating compared to something like Assetto Corsa. I've tried everything and spent hours searching for solutions, but the handling just feels unrealistic. If driving was this hard in real life, I would understeer to a tree every time I went anywhere. You can't feel the road, it's like driving on dusty ice or something. People like to compare AMS2 to AC and tell you that AMS2 is ready "out of the box" and doesn't require the long process of installing Content manager, CSP etc. but at least after installing all of that Assetto Corsa is a fun, realistic simulator. AMS2 you just can't fix. Open-wheelers feel a bit better, but I still can't recommend AMS2 if you are looking for a realistic driving experience.
One of the best feeling, and well optimized racing sims. Very underrated for VR.
Great single player game with plenty of different cars and tracks. Physics are decent, AI is pretty good (most of the time) and the graphics are great. Runs well on a mid-grade gaming PC. Would like to see some form of career mode (apparently, this is coming!).
Definitely unrealistic, but somehow I would prefer it over ACC. iRacing, Assetto Corsa, and rFactor 2 are real sims; it is just that Automobilista 2 is more satisfying to me. It feels more simple and more like a game rather than a simulator. Other than that, grinding in sim racing usually doesn't make people better racers. Being relaxed and enjoying the actual driving without constantly keeping an eye on track times naturally improves consistency and focus over long sessions of driving.
Best casual Sim for Dads I expierenced - and i tried them all. Believe me
I slept on this game for years because I did not like the title... Silly me. I put 40 hours into this within a month. First party vintage F1 cars! Best AI ever! This sim is the GOAT!
Automobilista 2 is THE racing simulator. I prefer it over other because it is highly moddable, it supports most steering wheels and it is very realistic. It includes many categories (from modern F1 cars to IMSA, NASCAR, GT and Supercars, along with many others). It also runs well on weaker machines with he correct configurations. As an owner of the Moza FSR2, Moza R9 and Moza CRP2s, this game is one of the most complete racing sims to exist. Not to mention the multiplayer mode, VR support and dynamic weather.
