Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon trades traditional high fantasy for a bleak, M-rated Arthurian apocalypse, and it is a triumph of atmosphere. The Setting: Genuinely spectacular. Avalon is being consumed by the Wyrdness—a reality-warping, hallucinatory fog that mutates the land and its people. It feels beautifully oppressive, surreal, and deeply original. The Story: Gritty, sharply written, and morally grey. There are no "heroic" choices here; every quest forces you to choose between the lesser of two evils with permanent consequences. The Gameplay: It is a classic, first-person open-world RPG. The build variety, crafting, and character progression are deeply satisfying. However, expect some indie jank—combat can feel floaty and primitive at times. If you can tolerate a little unpolished combat in exchange for incredible lore and a masterclass in dark fantasy atmosphere, this is a must-play.
I liked the demo, hence why i bought it. I played it on the highest dificulty and found it fun. Cheesing some fights. But I can't recommend the main game. Didn't really like the writing or voice acting. I also gave it a chance due to some youtube videos. The main reason why I disliked it. Combat, enemies hit you from their back, they "jump" 10ft to hit you. The parry feels inconsistent, and their animations are slow and wide, meaning you can have a summon fighting it and if you aproach to stab their back they can hit you even if it seems that the sword is hitting your summon.
Excellent game, playing in the world of King Arthur as a Knight is great
I grabbed this on sale without doing any research so I had zero expectations. I got absolutely hooked 10/10
It is a lot like skyrim in a good way. The systems are refined, not overwhelming. The game is fun, the story is interesting. It looks like it is with a bit lower budget, but it doesn't matter. The game is still fun

Good.
Feels like playing an old-school RPG from the early days, and I love it. Dark fantasy at its finest with an intriguing story, characters, and places to explore. Plus, the cutest companion! ♥
Very Oblivion-like, but instead of generic forests it's full of weird pagan stuff and spooky magic. Also, King Arthur looks like a raid boss from World of Warcraft, but in a good way. There's a little bit of Eurojank, and it'll probably seem pretty difficult if you're expecting it to be exactly like Oblivion, but it's not a Hard Game(tm). Also, if you played this game and thought "hey, this is a lot like Gothic", you're right, but also you should go get a colonoscopy, and maybe a prostate exam too. UPDATE: As I get further into this game, I've gotten pretty tired of the combat, mostly because each new area does some very frustrating scaling to make the new area feel challenging. This isn't an inherently bad design choice, but the difference between areas is very sharp despite the enemies looking mostly the same, which really undermines the verisimilitude of the world. It's satisfying to level up through the first area and become stronger, and by the end of that zone you're a menace to every enemy you come across. This obviously can't continue into the second zone, but the way this plays out means that bandits in the third zone have comparable HP to bosses in the first zone, and damage output that would easily destroy a literal Knight of the Round Table. This is the sort of thing you'd overlook in World of Warcraft because the entire game is a treadmill, but I want this game to do more to hide that from me, either by having more dangerous enemies be more than mere palette swaps, or by changing enemy behavior to force me to deepen my understanding of the combat system. I'm entering the third area now, and I don't have the patience to deal with the game nerfing me this hard again, so I'll probably just drop the difficulty and finish out the story, because I do think it's one of the best RPG stories we've gotten in a very long time. It's just very disappointing to feel that sense of growth over the course of one zone and be told "oh hey, now the trivial mobs kill you again" instead of "here's some bigger and more interesting foes that are worthy of your new skills and gear".
