S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky - Enhanced Edition (2025)

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3492533038

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3494666964

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3498933394

★★★★☆
the worst enhancement ive ever seen , they are lazy as ♥♥♥♥ that community made texture mod are better than this ♥♥♥♥, and instade of improveing the voicelines sound quality they changed the voice actors for some voicelines that sound awful and worser than the og version. if you are thinking of buying this broken "enhanced version" of the game just burn you money instade its easier
Verdict
✅ Recommended, but only for fans of this type of game A rougher sequel that I enjoyed, but I would not want to replay it again.
My history with the game
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky was originally released in 2008 as the follow-up to Shadow of Chornobyl. Unlike the first game, I had never played Clear Sky before. The Enhanced Edition was my first full playthrough, and I finished it in 6 hours. I also used the Steam Workshop to add Czech dubbing, which made the experience much better for me.
Quick signals
💸 Value: ✅ Worth it for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans 🖥️ Requirements: ✅ Easy to run 🎨 Graphics: ✅ Old, but atmospheric ⏱️ Length: ✅ Around 6–10 hours 📖 Story: ✅ Decent 🎮 Difficulty: ✅ Manageable 🐛 Bugs: ⚠️ Still present
What I liked
* The atmosphere of the Zone is still strong. * The game keeps the classic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. feeling of danger, exploration, mutants, anomalies, and firefights. * It was interesting to finally experience this entry for the first time. * The Czech dubbing through the Steam Workshop helped me enjoy the game much more. * As a shorter experience, it works well enough for one playthrough.
What didn’t work for me
* This game still has noticeable bugs. * I had a visual bug at night where random flashing lines appeared on the screen. * I also had a gameplay-breaking bug during the part where I had to drain water. Even after killing the mutant, the metal gate did not open and I could not continue. * Another gameplay-breaking bug happened when a soldier was supposed to place an explosive on a wall. Instead, the NPCs grouped together and crouched in one spot. Reloading an older save fixed it. * Many areas are reused from Shadow of Chornobyl, so the game feels less fresh. * Compared to the first game, it feels like the developers did not push this entry as far as they could have.
Is it an endless game? How long to beat?
No, this is not an endless game. I finished it in 6 hours. Depending on your playstyle, side content, and possible bugs, it may take a bit longer.
Who will love it
You will probably enjoy Clear Sky if you already like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., older PC shooters, post-apocalyptic atmosphere, survival elements, and games that are a bit rough but still unique. If you are new to the series, I would recommend starting with Shadow of Chornobyl first.
Replay value
For me, replay value is low. I enjoyed my first playthrough, but because of the reused areas, rougher design, and bugs, I do not really want to play this entry again.
Final note
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Enhanced Edition is a decent game, but also a noticeably rough one. I enjoyed it as a first-time playthrough, especially with Czech dubbing from the Workshop, but the bugs and reused locations make it weaker than Shadow of Chornobyl for me. Recommended for one playthrough, mainly if you already like this type of game.
"Enhanced edition" yeah, more like you "enhanced" the jank more. Playing on hardest difficulty and yes, it should be hard, but not to the point of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Spawning in after a level transition into a group of bandits getting my ears blown out. Automatics on the enemy side have pinpoint accuracy at times and devastating damage, meanwhile the same gun in your hands has the accuracy as if you were falling and running at the same time while standing, crouching or kneeling. Handguns are useful, but that was even in the og. It was funny the first few times, but the "reload into jammed gun" is getting old, they ain't even half durabilty, quite literally almost full, and they jam after a reload, who made that a possibility and said "it'll be fun"??? Still haven't fixed the faction mechanic, just try to play as a loner, for ♥♥♥♥♥ sake, so many issues of getting attacked "we need help now" spammed and ♥♥♥♥. Animals also don't drop loot still... Can't even rub out the bandits, but the mercs on the clear sky side you can? Joined Duty, first objective "have a foothold in garbage", goes to area, area used by free stalkers / loners, killed them because that's the only thing you can do, receive the message "capture more areas, but don't engage with neutral stalkers"... anyway couldn't hold the objective, cus loners wanted to capture it, so both factions just sat in each other, killed the loners, "good job, come back for a reward at base"... It even breaks the main story, like what the ♥♥♥♥? An objective is to literally talk to a freedom member and if you are Duty^^ well they skip the objective and you have a shootout with 10 or so guys. That npc's don't get affected by emissions or light is also quite stupid, meanwhile you are there, in the middle of a shootout, losing your vision and shaking as if you had drank 20 vodkas. And the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grenades, literally getting spammed, who copied who huh? Was it Call Of Duty World at War or this game? The music can be actually fire sometimes, honestly, that combat music on a first encounter was so unexpected, but that's the only good thing. Wait, last rant, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ recoil is painfully hilarious, on a scoped AK shots go random in a big circle, you aim and shoot at a standstill, only for the bullets to go below, to the left or right, as if they were shotguns. BTW, all games get an automatic negative review from me, because this doesn't justify the price increase, "enhancing" some ♥♥♥♥ and adding achievements which only shows how rushed and untreated this game is.
As a prequel, the story is good, and the writing is phenomenal. However: Clear Sky does not have enough unique assets or mechanics to justify being its own game. It uses all the same weapons, combat /exploration features, and maps as Shadow of Chernobyl, with the exception of some gear that is unique to a newly introduced faction and 1-2 new minor maps in the very end of the game. For plot sensitive reasons I can't get into, you revisit pretty much all of the old stomping grounds of the first game and play it in all the same ways. The only real difference is that a robust form of fast traveling is introduced, which is nice for quality of life, and a Statistics tab is added to your PDA so that you can view the analytics of different factions warring with each other, which is especially neat if you decide to join one. Transactional gunsmithing and armor upgrading is also introduced, but for weapons this feature is pointless because it doesn't improve them enough to justify taking the time to do quests and get money. If you plan on playing the main questline at a normal speed or above (side quests are virtually pointless except 2-3 shared with Freedom and Duty), you're going to get new weapons so fast that you won't be able to keep up with your changing inventory if you have any kind of attachment to the guns you own. Plus, you can only really kill the endgame enemies with their own weapons, so upgrading is also pointless in that regard. As a game, Clear Sky very frustrating and underdeveloped. Being robust is fine, but there are some over-corrections I noticed present that take it from "rough-around-the-edges" to "dogwater." I'll explain: Being that I played Shadow of Chernobyl on Stalker difficulty, I wanted to play Clear Sky on veteran difficulty, and despite the game being what it is, I managed to complete Veteran mode in half the time I spent on the first title. This is where the problems really start. You essentially get one-tapped by even low level enemies in the game, and even when you get the best armor money can buy (short of an exo-suit) you still get one tapped as a rule, not the exception. Virtually all the guns in the game quickly become pointless to use except for the most powerful Snipers, Assault Rifles, grenade launchers, and 7.62 machine gun. Not even the Chaser, which is a pretty powerful semi-automatic pump action shotgun which I upgraded to the max (silly me), was useful for efficiently killing Monolith at the end. I could unload an entire tube of armor piercing rounds into the military or Monolith, and they would still barely flinch and keep gunning me to death. Enemies on Veteran difficulty have the plot armor of Superman, the Punisher, and Batman combined. They are absolute bullet sponges. I don't even want to know how much they could soak up on Master difficulty. There is a little fun to be had in dissecting a battle field like a puzzle so you can scope out a safe attack approach for yourself, utilizing sneak and peeking mechanics, but it's quickly washed away by every enemy having god aim, being able to hip shoot you in the head from across the map, and lobbing grenades on your exact position BY HAND, even if they're hundreds of meters from you and can't see you. You would think that getting access to grenades yourself would help even the playing field. Nope. There's no parabolic trajectory. They do not explode on contact. And enemies immediately scatter when the game logs that you're pulling back a grenade. I have hit maybe 4-6 guys with grenades after carefully timing the throws and visualizing the parabolas they make in my head. On the other hand, I've been blown to the high heavens by dozens of grenades thrown by enemies that the devs lazily programmed with omniscience and Herculean strength. Shadow of Chernobyl did not have this problem. Honestly, seeing myself rag-doll that many times was kinda funny after a certain point. In short, the superhuman qualities that the devs give enemies is what I refer to as over-corrections. It's the oppostie of immersive. Save yourself the time. Even if you love Stalker, don't buy this game. It feels like a cash grab more than anything else, even for an older title. Watch a video essay about it on YouTube to get the plot. It's not worth it.
don't buy the new version it lags and i get to many errors the just keeps crashing stick with the original with modds

Deadly anomalies, dangerous mutants, anarchists and bandits... None will stop Duty on its triumphant march towards saving the planet! The World fears The Zones expansion. Join Duty and save the innocent. (edit, this was my first stalker game and i beat it on Master difficulty. and whilst it had its amazing, atmospheric moments that made me fall in love with the series, the final sequence in Lymansk and the hospital before streloks fight (which you can beat by save scumming with every gauss hit) is a bloody hell that i fear is worse then the zone itself. but still. 10/10 for the atmosphere and story, like a 3/10 for its janky ahh combat.) Stalker, protect the world from The Zone. Join Duty.
Та сама недооцінена гра по всесвіту S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Oh my Mama's beads! I would burn my Sparkling Eye with Jellyfish Flame, for how this game is not that kind of Snowflake nor Night star to play. There is nothing enhanced about this game compared to the original, this is as Enhanced jank as it was in OG. Playing this game feels like half a$$ed faction war sandbox that is sometimes spiced with lore quests. + Weapon upgrades/repairs + Holy s**t, I can't come up with anything other positive, lmao. Maybe that you get to know the lore before SoC. - Faction wars - Helping friendly stalkers during faction wars - Capturing points and waiting for reinforcements in faction wars (that never come) - Doing nothing else than responding to help calls during faction wars (attacks like every 30 seconds even less) - Holding hands to your spoon fed toddlers during faction wars - Losing entire map of checkpoints, you captured before, the moment you leave the map - Artifacts don't respawn - All artifacts spawn is RNG (if you miss Stone blood in the start, you don't get it in any other part of the game) - Ridiculous Voice Acting - Side Quests that don't trigger meaning further ones won't trigger either since they are chained - Mutants don't drop anything; ridiculous spawn rate (they obliterate every NPC checkpoint) - Achievements dependent on RNG side quests and artifact spawns (Missing artifact or screwing side quest for Gun Baron achie, you can start a new game right away if you did not realize what you screwed) - Once emission starts it takes like >>5<< minutes before it arrives - NPC disappear during emissions, you gotta wait those through before they spawn out of thin air - Little number of emission hideouts (even some buildings don't work) - Flashlight shines like 2 meters in front of you, then it's dark - Night visions are more like tint of a hue - Unrewarding loot - Guns have broken iron sights/optics zeroing (sometimes with upgrades, sometimes without).. WE'LL LEAVE IT AT 50. - Have I stated the CONSTANT DEFENSE of captured checkpoints already? - You get checkpoint defenses even during main mission objectives while you can't leave (I look at you YANTAR LAB!!) I give 4 snorks out of 10 monolithian grenades.
