Its a pretty unique game design, with all this skulls.

Picked this up on sale after playing the demo. This game is not easy when you start. Slowly, you get stronger. And then you start to feel casual. Then you get stomped over and over by a boss and need to rethink life. This game is very fun. There’s a lot to do. Most of the graphics are good. Combat is brutal but rewarding. Exploration is superb. The music is amazing and feels crazy at times especially when the main theme plays. You can do any build you want. It all is so deep. If you just mess around, you can be here forever. If you go hard, slightly less than forever. NPCs are all mostly voice acted. Most are pretty good. Get this game, and play it. There is no downside (for me).

Like Skyrim but way bettah

Tainted grail feels like a modernized skyrim. I played through ~90-95% of the content before closing out and generally had a great time throughout it. The good: - The exploration is very rewarding, particularly in Acts 1 and 2 where you can walk into almost any building, cave, or dungeon and be able to start a new and interesting side quest. - The story is interesting and writing does a great job making each character unique. I thought they did a particularly good job conveying the gray-morality choices King Arthur had to make - The combat is solid, with my own playstyle pushing towards a melee build with some supporting magic. I felt that there was a good variety in the magic, with regular accumulation of new spells throughout the runtime of the game. - The voice acting is good across the board - No notable bugs or performance issues. The bad: - Act 3 doesn't have as good of an exploration factor as Acts 1 & 2, with most areas being tied to a particular quest which starts somewhere else. That being said, Act 3 is still enjoyable and seems to be much more polished than some older reviews would lead to believe. - They struggle with difficulty balancing. Harsh difficulty spikes occur at the beginning of each act, where enemies feel like damage sponges and can kill you in a few hits. Conversely by the end of each act I one shot almost every enemy and 3-shot most bosses. - I personally find weight limits to be a PITA, and before I modded the weights away I found myself running to a shop to sell loot every 30 minutes. If you have enjoyed skyrim in the past, I would highly recommend Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.

Elder Scrolls like experience with more engaging combat. Offers a variety of builds that all seem to have their strengths. Game has a ton to offer for a fair price. Devs did a great job considering it is not a AAA company. Graphics and performance aren't great but the gameplay makes up for it. 8/10 recommend especially on sale considering it's like 20 bucks.

Great game. What Skyrim wishes it was. Well balanced, fun combat, exciting economy, useful crafting system, Wide skill tree, Rewarding combat, real estate, Decent story. 9/10

I'm going to age myself here. I'm 37, so I don't really remember Skyrim at launch, but I remember the feeling it gave me. That feeling of, "Do I go to bed... or do I stay up just one more hour?" I've only had that feeling with a handful of games: XCOM 2, Baldur's Gate 3, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous... you know the type. This game belongs in that group. You feel powerful. Your character looks badass. The music is incredible, and you get to live out a dark Arthurian legend. It's an absolute blast from beginning to end. This game is worth every penny. The DLC is worth it too. This is what Avowed should have been.
