This is Skyrim with unique items, not just generic "glass & Deadric" More challenging & better combat. Idk why this isnt massive
Gets old fast. Quests are MMO-esque (boring). Gameplay gets old fast. Killer theme though. I'm going to complete the main quest, and sign out.
I liked what I played and have nothing bad to say about the gameplay itself. The performance however, is completely unacceptable. In the tutorial island I was getting a locked 72 frames. For whatever reason in the in-game settings it wouldn't let me lock at 60. Not great considering what this laptop CAN run, but okay. But as soon as I hit the mainland to begin the game proper I began getting fluxuating frames. In general I saw a drop of 10 to 20 frames from the tutorial. But even worse, depending on where I looked the frames changed. There's no excuse for that much deviation. I can deal with a locked 60 or so frames for a game like this. What I can't accept is frames going up or down depending on where I am or what I'm looking at. This laptop can play Cyberpunk on High, Forza Horizon at a completely steady 60 on medium (never tried high to be fair), Outer Worlds 2 on high. This isn't a bad looking game but it's nowhere near as impressive as those games but this is where the laptop struggles? It's not top of the line by any means, but it shouldn't have any trouble with something like this. If they ever do a meaningful pass at optimizing the game to actually run well I'll rebuy it. I did enjoy the gameplay. But seriously, optimize your damn game.
No spoiler review. Individual scores at the end of the review. Overall score 8.6/10, would recommend. The combat is satisfying no matter what build you choose. The variety of different weapons and armours is noticeable (in a good way), with many unique effects on them, helping with the amount of possible builds. I think that in comparison spells suffer a bit in that area, since there are definitely fewer of them and their variation is mostly centered around how powerful they are, with a few archetypes present such as fire, ice, blood, etc. Enemy variety is good, each design is distinct, which helps to immerse the player as if they really are moving through the different regions of the world. However, in many cases they act as damage sponges and nothing more, which is certainly disappointing. The game is split into three (3) regions, each region being an Act. Acts 1 and 2 are very strong, however Act 3 is, in my opinion, the game's weakest part. In 1 and 2 I felt as if I was really progressing, both in terms of the story and my build, but in Act 3 that feeling was not at all present for me. I felt as if the narrative just lost steam, which isn't helped by the tedious travel times. Sure, it gets better once you unlock fast travel points in that region, but that really shouldn't be the case. The main reason for the tediousness is also sadly the best part of the region, the mountainous nature of it. The way it looks is gorgeous, but it means you have to move up and down the mountains, often without your horse, I think if using your horse in Act 3 wasn't such a hassle compared to 1 and 2, the travel would be much better. The lore of the world is one of the game's stronger, if not the strongest, elements. I enjoyed learning about it, even in Act 3 where the narrative itself was quite weaker than previously. The DLC is great and feels like a proper expansion. I have no complaints about it other than, again, it can be somewhat tedious to move around the DLC region. Looking back, I was also much more engaged in the narrative of the DLC than Act 3. Scores: Music 10/10 - no complaints, it's great. Lore/World - 10/10 - again, no complaints. Narrative/Main Quest - 7/10 - Act 3 really hurts it, which is unfortunate. Side Quests - 8/10 - some were interesting, some not. A few fetch/collect x of each quests but they didn't bother me too much. Combat 8.5/10 - the damage sponge enemies are the worst part of the combat, and they are really noticeable. Builds/Character Progression 8.5/10 - The skill trees are extensive and allow for many possibilities, the armour/weapon effects are great, but again, Act 3. By that point I didn't really feel much of a sense of progression. Combined score of 8.6.
