Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I originally played Backbone (now called Tails Noir) when it first released on Gamepass. I did not know that a prequel was later made and was happy upon finding out. This is a good narrative driven game that gives context to the events in Backbone. I am sad that the story will never be completed now the company is gone, but the game is good nonetheless. I recommend it for those that want a good story with stunning pixel art.

The prequel of Tails Noir. Just as the main game had the name Backbone originally, this was previously called Tails: The Backbone Noir. The game is split into 16 chapters, equally divided among 4 different characters. 1. Clarissa Bloodworth Decent. Her chapters explain how she came to power and make clear of her agenda early on, unlike in the main game where she reveals her intent at the very last moment with no previous clues dropped at all. Also her chapters show the most diverse locations, feeling less repetitive. They still don't completely explain her character, for example we still don't know whether she's a genuine savior type or the change of management type, but the amount of care her story got in this prequel is adequate. 2. Howard Lotor The OG protag guy... And the most irrelevant part of this game. His plot here is about his college life and how he and Lucky were BFFs and had fun together. No conspiracy, no artifact, completely detached from the main plot. Who invited this kid into this prequel? Dude wasn't even invited at the start of the main game, he wasn't in the loop. There's no story that needs to be told, all they needed to do was establish how Larry and Howard used to hang together. Place their sprites together on some street level as a cameo and boom. You just achieved the same narrative goal with ease. Pointless. 3. Renee Wilson Her first chapter is rather solid, it shows her delving deep into the ape conspiracy by comparing inconsistent police reports. But after that her plot quickly becomes boring, with it only showing her marriage falling apart(merging work and life always works so well). As I said above for Howard's story I question if her personal life story was really needed to be told in detail. Chapters are just almost as pointless as the ones of Howard, and the game also fails to tell how or why Renee came to be so fixated on Clarissa in the main game, which means even with the prequel, the missing link in plot still exists. Had they just put a few more lines in her ending screen it could've been a lot better, but the way they put it couldn't be more ambiguous and unsatisfactory. Why even make a prequel if you're this unwilling to fill the gap? 4. Eli Abbas This is supposed to be where the spicy stuff is. Eli is the scientist tasked with the study of the main plot device, the artifact. Again disappointingly, the game never goes beyond the extent of dropping tinest clues making no actual progress, we don't even get to witness its discovery, the unearthing, by the point we're in control, the thing is already in a containment safe and sound. What separates his chapters from the others is that the choices matter, because he's not a recurring character with a set demise. Will you self censor your diaries and kiss asses of your superiors politicking or be as truthful as possible and keep your integrity as a man of science? A common dilemma, but interesting regardless, at least compared to the above three linear stories. But still, there's no changing the fact that this chapter is too, a wasted opportunity, because as I already said, we still don't know ♥♥♥♥ all, about the artifact, or about the apes, nothing. If I were to ONLY talk about this prelude, then I wouldn't necessarily call this bad. Some segments of Clarissa and Eli's are good, even. I actually played this first ahead of playing the main game it left me with little negative impression. But now having played both games, and knowing this came out LATER, what the hell? They had some serious questions to answer and this installment does not help our understanding of the chaotic mess the main game left any better. If you have played it, then you'll know how abrupt and random the twist is, and if you haven't played it yet, then abandon all your expectations. Because let me tell you, it's ass. If you read the main game's reviews, you'll find many other souls who share the same opinion as I. What I noticed from them is that they're harsher in tone than the usual negative reviews. And of course they are. People felt betrayed after playing the solid first half. I will go as far as to say what they did is worse than making a consistently mediocre game start to finish. And 2 years later, they delivered this, looking pretty, but still providing little to none. This isn't a proper prequel, the way I see it this one's just a teaser. A teaser that was released after the full course. With the studio now gone after unleashing a last puff of fart, a spinoff racing asset slop featuring the drift anime tofu Toyota(we certainly don't have enough of them!), the IP is officially kaput. And it's sad all three games fell short of expectation one way or another. Know you're not going to get anything near satisfactory by the end if this prelude is your first Tails Noir game, and if you're returning from the main game, then know the questions in your head will never get answered.
My honest opinion is that this game is wayyyyy better than the first one and I kinda recommend playing this one first before the main game because its a good intro to most of the main characters in the first game on a side note:i love howard in both games and i feel like this game makes me love him more and also i thought him and larry relationship was cute.
The first Tails Noir (or Backbone as it used to be called) were a very divisive game. Most seams to think the first half was excellent with gorgeous pixel art and a compelling world, with tons of potential for stories to be told, and then many (me included) thought it completely fumbled the second half with ridiculous plot twists and a really, really dumb story and a ending that wasn't warranted or earned. This one however, show that the setting is great. We follow four characters from the first game in earlier episodes of their life, some pretty mundane domestic issues, others (like the last chapter) nail bitingly tense. I don't think you have to have played the first one, the game does a pretty good job setting up the characters and how they tick, and seams to leave some replayability since there are some branching narrative even if the stories mostly end the same.
This was alot better than tails noir. I really wish you'd make a sequel to tails noir and not let it be the "ending" it is.
So good. I'm holding out hope that the devs will get the chance to wrap the series up one day. Howie and Larry forever... I do wish New+ would enable you to choose which character and chapter you want to play! That's pretty much my only real criticism.

I am so disappointed to hear the team that created Tails Noir have dispersed. This game is a great addition to the original and helped clear up a bit of the story for me. Something that is continued from the original is the absolutely beautiful animation, just WOW. 2.5D is hard to master and this game and the original does it skillfully. I really appreciated getting more insights into these characters and why they act the way they do in the first installation of Tails Noir. I will say, I have no idea if there are different endings as they state, as with the original, unfortunatley the choices you make don't change the story. I do think based on achievments that it is possible, but I am not planning on replaying the game in the near future due to the dark themes. Overall great game, good stories to tie up some loose information and beautiful. Hope one day this team is able to come back together and make more installments. This series has so much potential!
An excellent compilation of vignettes that gives you a more intimate view into this exceptional worldbuilding. However, I was still left with more questions, and I can't help but feel like this game's content should have simply been integrated into the main Tails: Noir game. Both games' experiences would be amplified this way. I can't help but feel frustrated that I needed to purchase a second game in order to get just a BIT more context for the main story, and I am STILL left with many of the questions I had before. There are still things to unlock, still parts of the world I haven't seen and want to see. It makes me afraid that this developer is going to just keep giving the story to me in small snippets when they could have just provided one fully fleshed out game from the start. That doesn't make it less beautiful though. The writing in this is lovely, the atmosphere is perfect, the choices lead to only a couple different endings for each character but still felt meaningful along the way. I just wish I could purchase and experience one, fully complete Tails: Noir instead of having it portioned out.
