I really want to recommend this however, it’s so buggy and easy to softlock it that i can’t. I really like the premise and the art is also very interesting . all of these aspect almost make the game worth it but the fact that you run can be cursed to fail because one glitch that happened ruins it Spoilers: I had 4 separate runs each of them were softlocked to eternity. First 2 were in elemental plane the first run i gave a key to trinket and the portal didn’t spawn the second i beat the doomlord then i tried talking to him and was sent back to the planes normally there a white portal that allows you to come back but it didn’t spawn there probably because the game didn’t expect me to talk to the boss after i beat kinda my fault not gonna lie. The third run was after the flesh doomlord i tried to get all the screaming crystals but unfortunately i walked through a portal and fell forever (it was the portal from forest to tower btw) The last run was in the last puzzle and i learned a very unfortunate glitch if you cast heightened agility multiple time the effect stacks and if you use the wizard king’s staff you can get really fast really quick also if you fall or quit you game while the spell is in effect it last forever and in the last puzzle if you (accidently or on purpose) run off a ledge you fall really slow but you keep the forward momentum. Long story short I ended up skipping a crucial part of the puzzle. Once again i want to say i really like this game i genuinely love this game i spent a good chunk of time on this game but i really can’t recommend it because of the fault if steam allowed it i would have rated it 7.5 out of 10 the bugged dropped down from 8.5 for me . If there is a second game or a continuation of the story I will most likely bye even if it turns out even buggier than the first because I genuinely like the vibe of this game.
I like the concept of this game, and really everything about it, but I got a gamebreaking bug on the last level that no amount or reloading or dying will fix, and I'm not even sure if it's possible to revert to an earlier save. According to the discussion there's lots of potential softlocks like this, so if you don't mind risking that then play it.
It is more like an exploration-adventure game than an RPG. No XP, or progression, and you should just run through enemies whenever you can because the fight is junky. But, if I see this as an adventure game, this game is a hidden gem! The weird FMV cutscenes are charming, and the world is truly unique. It is a worthy experience, don't let the weird controls spook you. Whether you will like this game or not, is highly subjective. This game is a clear homage to 90s games which made extensive use of FMV The game has: - campy and funny FMV, with often over the top acting (including from the enemies) - janky 90s controls & combat that require getting used to - no objective marker and not much of an explanation so you are on your own figuring stuff out - awesome 90s metal soundtrack - cheese voice acting - a pretty interesting magic system that is weaved into the puzzles - Charming graphics (if you are into retro stuff). Yes the campiness is on purpose. - some bugs :( - [strike]a sexy FMV witch <3[/strike] Whether this is your cup of tea or not, depends on you. If you are willing to brave the jankiness (or are a fan of it) and love 90s RPGs despite their flaws, you will definitively love this game! I recommend it with the warning that this game is not for everyone.
Buggy and had to keep restarting the game, because if you play with keeping the Right Mouse Button down to look whilst walking with WASD, the moment some cutscene or interaction starts, the hand cursor bugs out and gets stuck in the center of screen until you restart the game. This is a game blocker bug which has put me off trying anymore. So it's not ready for release in this state and if the game isn't supposed to be played with right mouse button held down, there shouldn't be an option to do so.
just kind of an unreservedly awesome game
I was enjoying the game but I kept getting this glitch where the mouse gets stuck in the middle of the screen and moving it just moves the camera around and I couldn't move it over to click any of the buttons. The only thing that would fix it is going back to the main menu and then continuing but then it would reset a lot of stuff like the map and some quest stuff so that was annoying. If they can fix it I'll be happy to change my review to positive.
Was loving this game until I got soft-locked due to being unable to proceed through an open door that the game seems convinced is still locked. At 4.5 hours playtime, I'm not keen on restarting and given the amount of bug and soft-lock reports on the forums, it doesn't seem like this will ever be fixed.
ORT ORT 🗣️🔥
I got one achievement that happens after doing a bit of wandering for 5 minutes, it's marked as rare. So not sure that 90% of the owners actually played this. The aesthetic looks great in some ways but like a cheap filter that wasn't dialed in or modified in others. The controls are bad and feel sluggish. I made the mistake of talking to a character named "lady wizard". unprompted with any questions this character named lady wizard scolded me upon trying to speak with her to learn about the lore or whatever in this universe. it's the very start of the game after all. "Uh, yeah. Wizards can be girls too. What, did you think ALL wizards were men?" I promptly took a picture with my phone and sent it to a friend with the pepe meme where he walks away and closes the door. This game is a trite approximation of the low fidelity magic from the analog era.
