went to try the game out because i really liked the ost but its just those games that have great lore n ost but the gameplay is really odd, it was just so much walking [seriously] and the fighting is bugged a bit, tried dodging but still got hit although did i love the puzzles, i suppose this game isnt for me since you have to walk for like 5-10 minutes just to be able to do something
I really wanted to love this game. The atmosphere is outstanding, the sound design is among the best I've experienced in a survival horror game, and exploring its environments is genuinely rewarding. That's exactly why one particular design decision frustrates me so much: it completely ruins the pacing. Enemies get back up after you've already defeated them. It's not that the game is too difficult—it completely removes the satisfaction of clearing an area. In the original Silent Hill games, and in many classic survival horror titles, killing enemies earned you something: the chance to explore at your own pace, read notes, solve puzzles, and thoroughly search rooms without feeling like you were wasting time. Here, it's the opposite. Every second you spend exploring feels like it's making your situation worse because you know those enemies will eventually come back. The result is that the game encourages you to rush through areas, ignore environmental details, look up puzzle solutions just to move on faster, and stop appreciating what it does best: its atmosphere. I don't mind games that make me struggle. What I do mind is having the time I invested into clearing an area effectively invalidated. If the developers wanted to maintain tension, there are far more interesting ways to do it: introduce new enemies, change the environment, trigger story-driven encounters... anything but repeatedly resurrecting enemies I've already defeated. It's a real shame, because beneath this single mechanic lies an excellent game. But for me, it turns exploration into a constant race against the clock, and combat ends up feeling less like an engaging part of the experience and more like a tax I have to pay just to keep playing.
peakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
This was my first time playing a game in the Silent Hill franchise. Before playing this, my only exposure to Silent Hill was watching a bunch of cutscenes from Shattered Memories of a terrible psychiatrist who definitely should have their license taken away. I've heard a lot of people say they really love the story of Silent Hill 2, but for the 10 hours I played it, there wasn't much story because it was basically 2 minutes of cutscenes for every 2 hours I spent walking around getting lost. Also, every single character is unlikeable. I stopped playing partway through the hospital because I got sick of being lost and dealing with the annoying characters. (The little kid is especially bad.) One of the puzzles was nearly unsolvable and I had to use a guide, because you were supposed to find numbers written on walls, but the walls were ABSOLUTELY FILLED with scribbles and it would have taken me ages to find the numbers among them. The game also made me nauseous. I had to change a bunch of settings in order to not feel terrible. To say something positive about the game: The map is somewhat useful and I like how James marks it up to put helpful notations on it. I still got lost though.

My Silent Hill 2 (Remake) review: This is honestly one of the best horror games I've ever played, and in my opinion, one of the greatest remakes ever made. It takes everything that makes psychological horror so great and delivers it with incredible atmosphere, amazing performances, and some of the best visuals I've seen in a game. I'm very close to finishing my first playthrough (I unfortunately got spoiled a few parts), and the story has still managed to leave a huge impression on me. James' evolution throughout the game is just beyond amazing, and every other character serves an important purpose in the story. Every interaction feels meaningful, and the writing does an incredible job of making each character unique. It's easy to see why so many people consider it one of the greatest stories in gaming :) And the craziest thing? Thanks to this game, I got into Silent Hill as a whole. Before playing it, I had been (somewhat) interested in the series but never really took the time to dive into it. Now I've watched playthroughs, played other Silent Hill games, and looked into the lore. I'm genuinely thankful I gave this remake a chance because it introduced me to a series that I probably would've kept putting off. In conclusion, Silent Hill 2 Remake completely surpassed all of my expectations. This game is a masterpiece, with an incredible atmosphere, amazing story and outstanding performances. Not only did it become one of my favorite horror games ever, it also introduced me to one of my favorite gaming franchises ever. RATING: 10/10
Чётко, в натуре чётко. Только авторы черти, на летней распродаже продавали игру за 50 процентов, а через неделю после летней уже за 60
