after 47.5 hrs of gameplay, i finally got a science victory. this game is insane.
This is a strange one for this franchise. Since always Civ allowed you to play simply, and introduced new mechanics over time with advancing technology. This makes the game easy to get into and learn as you play, while retaining the complexity needed for an engaging 4X game. Civ VI commits a cardinal sin: districts. A district is a concept taken from the future and contrivingly enforced upon the past. Before you make a choice of which district to build where, you're going to need to stop playing and go online and read in great detail about districts. Contrivances are a huge game-killer for me, and I could never get over this one. I regard Civ IV as the apex of the series, being the last of the original line of games (square map plus military unit stacking), and the first of the beautiful ones. But in a way, Civ VI might be a beginning of a whole new line of Civ games, wherein you can't just play and learn as you go, but have to start by obtaining encyclopedic knowledge of a contrived game mechanic.

this game just feels off, civ 5 was their last good game, even 7 is same as this, what a disappointment this franchise has become
