В 2022 году разработчики заблокировали продажи игры и DLC в России, когда я спросил на форуме в стиме, "Как мне теперь купить DLC к игре, качать с торрентов?" Do not trust reviews saying the gameplay is bad because it is not like civ games. It is, they just do not agree with Humankinds changes/differences. This is absolutely an 8 or 8.5/10 game that has very user friendly UI and simplifies several tedious aspects of other 4x games with nuances where one-trick-pony strategies will not work. The Good: 1) Capable AI for the most part. Though this is very minorly affected by them having innate bonuses from game start that the player does not have access to, but it is by no means unfair or poorly balanced. 2) Many of its city building aspects have been simplified in terms of how cities grow with its territory system, which works well with its military system (next topic down). As for territories, it gives you a clear region that will get and its resources (with future resources being marked, but not accessible util relevant tech is unlocked) and ensures reasonable distances between cities (mostly). Players that city-spam into oblivion hate this system because they actually have to engage with a new strategy. Players that say you cannot build a real empire with the city cap system just do not understand the game. It is easy to do once you get its nuances. With half a thousand hours in this, I have had world spanning empires on the largest map settings many, many times. 3) The military system is actually quite fun and vastly simplifies turn to turn actions regarding warfare. You build a multi unit army that command 4-8 at once instead of instead of 80 or so individual units that you have to give individual orders to individually. Once you are in battle, you give individual orders in a small scale but well done tactical situation that most other civ-like games fail to make complex enough. Do not get me wrong; it is still largely a rock-paper-scissors situation, but unique units, along with you ability to mix and match allow for interesting combinations while the battlefield system allows for far more interesting tactics than a typical civ game. 4) Diplomacy is weak as ever when dealing with AI as any other civ-like, but at least the new luxury resource system where each one provides a different unique boon to your nation for *each copy* you have access to makes trade so, so much more worthwhile. The new Vassalage system is actually neat, and I see the potential for multiplayer games, but ultimately it is often just a nice way to subdue other AI for extra stuff between true conquests. 5) Reasonably priced DLCs, especially when on sale. (Do not get Together We Rule) The Bad: 1) Random events and their pop-ups are often meaningless or just poorly balanced. 2) Snowballing can be an issue still, but it at least takes longer than other civ-likes and the AI is better at preventing this, but masters of the game will outclass them by a mile after a certain point. 3) Some cultures are just wildly strong compared to others (looking at you, New Zeeland and Swahili) 4) I almost forgot; the DLC Together We Rule. 2/10 much regret. Not even worth $1 for how much it messes up the game. I only say 2/10 because it was high effort, just really, really bad. 5) Sometimes battle grounds will include a nearby city that has nothing to do with that battle, which pauses its production until it is finished. Which has been a problem in certain situations. The things that are legitimate complaints: 1) That it is hard to have an identity with a playthrough. While it is fun to mix-n-match cultures across the ages of mankind, I will say I wish I had an option to pick a single culture and stick with it. Really should have been given an alternate game mode for this, honestly. Sometimes I just want to Rome around. 2) City structuring and development can be annoying sometimes with its stability system. Especially the way it can be affected by other players "ideologies" if they have greater influence than you for so long, but changing my entire empire's ideological structure because this one city slightly too far me can prevent this... but doing this doesn't affect stability in the rest of my empire? The other aspect of this too is that early game there is very little you can do to combat this without picking an aesthete culture. 3) Multiplayer can be unreliable af. I found, if you just accept desync and do not let it recalibrate, it will still work just fine most of the time, but not always. Also, it requires everyone to do this, so no rando matches. 4) The saltpetre resource. It is rare, and players that have it not only get a massive military advantage that lasts almost two ages in the game, it also allows you to build a structure that increases all science production by 10% which means it is easy to eclipse everyone else without it. 5) That being said, there are some balancing issues, especially with certain culture combinations or even just a couple cultures alone being crazy op. And that's that. This game is different, and will take some time to get your sea legs, but once you finally figure it out, it is a fantastic addition to the 4x genre.
Добро пожаловать обратно в РФ сегмент! Когда повесточка была актуальной игра была трусливо скрыта от покупки (я купил ее еще до всей этой херни), теперь когда игра имеет шанс быть закрытой, вы открыли ее продажу.
Game is actually pretty fun but you eventually see why it never took off. It doesn't feel like I'm building a nation, but rather micro-managing stats and modifiers. Starts off strategic and tactical but turns into a cookie-clicker slog the further you get. Has the typical Civ tech nonsense of building nuclear reactors while still only having swordsmen. Improved tiles all look the same, it's impossible to tell what is what by looking at the map. The color palette often matches that of the terrain so they can be hard to notice too. New ages/culture barely change the look of the cities and tiles. Every age is just a race to build your age-unique building in every city/territory before the next age disables construction. Asynchronous mechanics are horrible - the AI can move his units at the start of your turn, but if you're fast enough to click you can engage them before it triggers the move! Late game you're managing 5+ cities, each with 3 attached territories, so you're managing 20 build queues with no automation. The game shows the most optimal place to build a building, and calculates the net gain of improvements for you too, but there is no auto-build function so every turn is just looping through 20 locations, picking the construction the game tells you gives most gain, squinting at the map for the best location marker and clicking in. It is very tedious and mind-numbing. On top of all the location macro there's some United Nations-esque mechanics where you can spend resources for some countries to adopt your +5% modifier instead of another +5% modifier for absolutely no gain or advantage to you. It's just another pointless system of micro-clicking.
I don't play 4k games. I wanted to get into the genre. So, mistakingly, I spent half an hour reading scathing steam reviews written by 4k veterans. I still bought it. Here's my thoughts, specifically angled towards people trying to get into this genre. If you're a 4k veteran, see the top rated review. This one isn't for you. 1. If you spend over 100 hours playing a game and downvote it, you're absolutely delusional. In my book, if you spend 100 hours doing anything willingly then it's more of an attitude problem then something intrinsically wrong with the game. Congrats, you played yourself. Once I started qualifying negative recommendations against this rule, a lot of games suddenly became way more fun & attractive for me. I recommend adoapting this viewpoint. 2. If you don't like HUMANKIND because you think it's an incomplete 4k game or a 4k game with training wheels, then clearly you're looking for a more substantial 4k experience. 3. This is a really solid game. Art style immerses you for hours in its own way. Solid UI. Military strategy, economy, farming, science, industry, religion, diplomacy, and some interesting cut scenes to boot. It's a good game. 4. Steam Reviews asks you one question "Would you recommend this game to other players? Y/N"-- not "Is this game better or worse your experiences with the Civilization or Crusader Kings series?". I think it's extremely unfair to negatively review this game in that light.
This is the game Firaxis tried to imitate with Civ VII and completely failed to capture. HK brought a fresh breath of innovation to the 4X genre with its bold mechanics and unique identity. It’s one of those rare strategy games that truly dares to do something different, and for that, it will always have a special place in my library.
Back in the days i played lot strategy games like commandos, warcraft, heroes of might and magic, age of mythology, you name it but never touched 4x genre until now. This game pleasing UI/UX and gorgeous art direction makes it easy to learn the genre, my impression this genre is good for people want to read more in his/her life
现在的游戏都喜欢做个半成品就开始捞钱,然后把本应一同放在本体的东西拆成无数DLC圈钱?谁TM惯的你们这些臭毛病!!
this game is great, has all the best mechanics that you could wish for in a civ type game... but it has sooo many bugs. You cant seperate the initial unit from a group of unts, or it disappears and makes you unable to click the tiles on the map, you have to seperate the other, non original unit in order to properly split a group And then the loading a savegame... after about turn 50+, you can no longer load your savegame, you can only load an autosave, and even then if you dont complete a battle resolution, you cant click on the end turn, you can only start at the beggining of the autosave by starting the game over and reloading it... and sooo many more 'gotta restart the game' bugs... i stopped playing after getting to one of my runs at turn 58, and couldnt load it anymore, even at the autosave. Its a really well thought out good game.... but you just cant go to too many turns without it mcuking up during it. And yes, i was playing with no mods whats so ever
