You're a security officer deep within Area 51. Scan the staff, verify clearances, and decide who can enter the elevator and who absolutely mustn't leave. The deeper you go, the less certain you are that anyone standing before you is still human.
Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Security 51 is an atmospheric security guard simulator inspired by Papers, Please, and SCP paranoia. You're on duty in the underground bunker of Area 51, where the most dangerous part begins at the elevator: the shaft descends for miles down to unknown levels. Whether it's laboratories, anomalies, inhumane experiments, or something alien—you're not supposed to know. Your task is simple: let in those who have access and stop those who don't... even if everything looks "right" on the surface.
Everyone who passes through your checkpoint carries papers and passes. Your job is to check names, positions, clearance levels, and time, ensuring the number of people entering and leaving matches, and pay attention to any oddities. As time passes you'll catch yourself thinking that something's wrong more and more, and the only thing to rely on will be the protocols. But even they can be wrong.
With experience, you'll gain increasingly more accurate methods of identity verification, such as blood testing. Did that janitor simply open the wrong door, or are they a spy for an enemy government? Or are they not even human? When in doubt, quarantine the suspect. Sometimes you'll make mistakes and lock up an ordinary employee, and sometimes you'll find a titanium cell ripped open from the inside. Some decisions will have immediate consequences, others only after several shifts.
The consequences of every mistake go far beyond issues in the workplace. Let the wrong person out, and the infection will ravage the city. Isolate suspicious employees, investigate anomalies, and launch new operations to contain the threat before it's too late.
Remember, it's not just about who you let in, but who or what you let out into the world.

I enjoyed the start of the game. But actually "solving" it seems repetitive and time consuming with very little feedback on if what I'm doing is helpful
Just made it to day 15 (2nd floor) on my first run. Had to come in here and give the game a positive review, if only to help offset the negative comments I've seen in other reviews. Most important thing to remember in this game is that you are moving up the list from BOTTOM to TOP. There is no point at even looking at the papers and passport until the very LAST. Any other rule will take precedence over that. Once that clicked (around day 6) it made tackling things in good time much easier. I think my main areas of confusion so far have been: Elevators - I realized that when you are viewing the various modes in the elevator to determine if people are infected, etc. if you want to be 100% sure you can click thru all passengers in each camera mode. If they are sus it'll tell you. Medical Pass - Just because they have a valid med pass for a condition does NOT mean you have to allow them entry. If someone has a fuse for a spleen, and they have a valid med pass to back it up, and your rules say to call security - well you call security! That's about it so far. There are a couple things in the scans that may not be apparent as anomalies at first, but you'll catch on quick enough after missing one. Anyways, I'm having a blast. Don't worry too much about the negative reviews. I think they just don't understand how certain things work. I'm off to restart and put what I've learned in the first hour or so of play to good use!

I have to review it to counter the negative comments. People just don't know how to read. I am at day 19, I am on second floor since day 12 and I never died or run out of time.
Gameplay
You have to read the sheet and test from the bottom up. So you start with what is GREEN which is an automatic pass, so even if they have stuff that is RED or a no it is still an automatic pass. If there is no green you test the red stuff that makes them killed, if there is nothing you test the no stuff (generally the number and name on the cards) if there is no no it's a yes.
Tips
If you have a doubt about the stuff you can compare with your mandatory sheet or ask for their medical document and compare that. Anyway there is ALWAYS a possibility to ask before making a decision. How to do that? you click on the anomality/medical sheet then on the mandatory sheet and it tells if it's corresponding or not. About the camera, people already explained but it's not always on the person, you have to move the camera around the screen and where there is the most "noise" there is a ghost. Also people can have more than one anomality that's why you have to test them from the bottom up ! An other thing, you don't have to go all the way the make a decision for example don't make a picture if they put on the mandatory sheet that all ghost are RED, you just check the camera for noise and if there is you kill them.
The research
A thing that I am not sure, but I think it's how it goes. You change floors when the disease (red) and your research (green) meet and you lose if the disease reaches the red bar, so if you already passed the red bar with your research, spending brains is not worth it.
The ending
Not there yet, but there seems to be replayability, maybe by the day selection screen? Anyway I'll update this section once I reach that as it seems to be a controversial topic.
Conclusion
Still there is one thing I always get wrong, it's the pointy bones :/ But yeah the game is not complex and because there is always new things, it's not boring too. I wouldn't call the game addicting though but is a good experience and it is kind of cheap. Ps: I am playing it in French and I didn't found mistakes yet.
Pretty good game. I don't know what the complaints were smoking, instructions are pretty straight forward. If you're curious about how long it takes to get an ending, take a look at my playtime as of writing this. Keep in mind that i did restart the day every time i made one mistake (i'm a perfectionist).
Edit: I completed the game earlier and have added further thoughts and information at the bottom. The Papers, Please comparisons are very unfair. The only connections are making sure that criteria is met to either allow people through or to take other actions. This game isn't trying to be the other game. Security 51 has similar mechanics to begin with but then throws more and more challenges at you that change day by day. It isn't trying to throw a deep narrative at you where your choices affect individuals. It is more like a thematic puzzle game with a different set of challenges every day. If you're going to go into this expecting the next Papers, Please you are going to have a bad time with it. If you want a game with similar mechanics, with a different set of challenges and aren't too worried about a deep, meaningful storyline then you may have fun with it. I'm not sure if there is even a story behind this game. I'm only at day 28 and so far, the game involves you trying to stop an apocalypse from happening. Once you have stopped the apocalypse, you are moved to a new floor with new challenges and a new apocalypse to stop. To do this you must manage an elevator mechanic and detain any affected individuals trying to leave the building. By doing so you can perform an experiment on them to increase your knowledge of the impending doom. This mechanic is a lot more simpler than being put into writing. This is a fun and challenging game, with mechanics in the same vein as PP, but is its own entity. I'm enjoying it a lot so far. Edit: I have completed the game and there is somewhat of an ending. Well, there are multiple endings. I don't want to spoil anything but once the game has been completed you are allowed to go back in time for a chance to change to a different pathway. It turns out that your path through the game is dictated by how you were able to successfully handle the apocalypse. Just to add some context, when you conduct experiments you receive results in one of three categories (or sometimes not at all). Whichever category is the highest once you have completed is the path you go down. The game definitely has replayability with the multiple endings and different pathways. Each level seems to be seeded as well so if you reverse time the days are played differently, apart from the tutorial sections which are fixed with their opening mechanics.
It was interesting until I finished the timeline and the game started talking a lot and calling me cutie-pie. Then it got really confusing and annoying rather than more interesting. This branching timelines is not the way for this kind of game. Linearity is better if it'd let you keep progressing down.
Those random animations between the shifts are GOAT
It felt underwhelming, like a simple casual version of Papers Please. Some mechanics are unclear and some mechanics pretend to be deeper than they are (quarantine, city policies... it seems it doent matter what you chose there). The ending was extremely disappointing. There are no dilemmas, no choices to make, no final you arrive to. There are interesting mechanics with scanners and blood tests, but in the end you use maximum 2 of them each day, there is never complexity or a sense of urgency. I wasn't very good at Papers Please, here I finished every day, almost always at 100% before 2/3 of the day passed. It's a shame, pixel art is fun.
