Good game I like it.
ScooterFlow is a physics-based freestyle scooter sim where you ride through skateparks and street spots, chain together tricks and grinds, and customize your scooter. The game has now left Early Access for full release and is built specifically around controller play. Pros ✔️ You can actually get off the scooter - I like that you are not permanently attached to your ride. Being able to walk around, explore spots, and even control your character after a bail gives you a bit more freedom. ✔️ There are some good movement and camera options - Switching camera modes and using both analogue sticks for different parts of the rider gives the controls the groundwork for something much more involved. ✔️ Quick resets make learning less painful - I wiped out a LOT trying to understand the controls, so being able to immediately reset and try again made experimenting with tricks much easier. Cons ❌ The controller layout works against the trick system - Forward movement, steering, and directional trick inputs overlap in ways that made everything much harder than it needed to be. I kept thinking acceleration should have been on a trigger so both sticks could be freed up for tricks. ❌ There is no mouse and keyboard option - The game straight up requires a controller, which is also an accessibility issue when that is not an input method everyone can comfortably use. ❌ It still feels unfinished despite being fully released - I had resolution issues immediately, the graphics were kinda eh, customization was mostly colour changes, music control was limited, and for a trick game I kept wondering... where my number go up? Conclusion ScooterFlow made me more interested in the game I could see underneath it than the one I was actually playing. There is clearly some good groundwork here for people who specifically want a more simulation-heavy scooter game, but I never got that satisfying feeling of learning the scooter because I was spending too much time learning around the controls. Now that it is out of Early Access, I expected that groundwork to feel a lot more finished than it does. Score 3/10 Faulty Wheels - I wanted to learn the tricks, not learn how to fight the scooter.
