Been seeing this one on Reddit for a while and as soon as I saw it released, I bought it. It's a little rough around the edges but honestly really fun. I can see it becoming a good distraction between sessions of working on something just to clear my head and turn my brain off a little. Can't wait to unlock more maps. Feedback for the dev: The opening cutscene may need some kind of vsync? And potentially other custcenes after it if there are any. The gameplay looks fine but whenever the opening cutscene plays, it gets a lot of screen tearing. It's not a big deal at all since the screen tearing is gone in the gameplay, just something to look into. I've also gotten stuck in walls a few times and I think it was some combination of wall sliding and turning the mop or flipping? Haven't worked out a consistent cause. Happens more often at higher speeds. Hope this feedback helps!
Mop Skater
TONY MOP PRO SKATER!
This game has a lot of promise. Little touchy on grind mechanics but i'm helping dev sort through that. It's quite good on launch so far and i'm losing time to it easily. It has that zen thing regarding the cleaning mechanics as well that that feeling you get with classic Tony hawk. You even get a stomp mechanic like in later Tony Hawks. Once the grinds are smoothed out it will be a nice chill novel skate game.
I like the part where you mop
as someone who grew up playing the THPS games this was an instant pick up. its an extremely simple but equally extremely addicting game. and yeah i could make a pun a bout how the dev is "mopping the floor" with their competition but you're here to see if its worth the price. to put it simply yes. on the time of this review its on sale for $5 and well worth the price. so what are you doing stop reading this and swipe that credit card and get to locking in your combos.
The best game if you have legs. If you don't have legs, the game will nuke your house with a banana and your family will suddenly get the urge to move to France.
Cute idea! But in execution, it’s a little rough. Level design is mediocre at best and lacks flow for a skate game. Collision when grinding rails is rough and leaves player feeling frustrated, just difficult to get that nice feeling of landing tricks, grinding and more tricks. Trouble navigating bowls, was hard to gain air and return back to gain speed. (Add functionality for a mop handplant too?) That being said, +100 for someone doing this solo. And a really funny concept. That warehouse level - tho - nah. We love you mop skater! but these levels should be bigger, more space between skateable objects and leave more room for play. Missed opportunity not having an easter egg with the subway taking you somewhere else secret in the subway level. Nice having controller support though. I do have a gut feeling this may have played out better in unity!
