I've now played over 1,000 hours of RTW3. This is the most of any game I've played in two decades. While I wish there was more work on this game as there are still many annoying bugs and obvious quality of life improvements begging to be made, overall, the main gameplay loop is extremely fun and there's so many ways to play out a save that replayability is very high.
GAME IS GREAT VERY GOOD EXCEL NAVAL SIMULATOR
Top Spiel, kann ich nur empfehlen.
Not giving the player any control over when you end a war is easily the worst design choice i have ever seen in a strategy/simulation game. The sheer stupidity of fighting a war for 2 years and having no oppertunity to end a war that started for undisclosed reasons other than ''tension'' and forcing you to fight pointless battles where the AI either has a clear numbers advantage despite you having litteraly your entire fleet stationed in the same seabord as the AI. Or you are given the most pointless objectives like ''Do more damage to the enemy ships than you recieve'' In a battle where your only ship is an Armored Cruiser that has a max speed of 20 knots, and your only opponent is a light cruiser with a max speed of 25 knots who spends the entire battle sitting at the edge of the firing range of your turrets, refusing to engage or leave you alone, effectively making the entire battle a giant waste of time. The so-called logic of the AI being ''careful'' is neither realistic nor fun in a game sense, since there is no reason to fight 60% of the battles you are presented with, and if you refuse to fight you are actively punished, so you are either forced to waste 3 minutes of your life trying to chase a ship that you can never catch, or sail back to your own harbor to end the battle in an unsatisfying manner. Please rework the campaign to give the player a little more control, i refuse to believe that in a country like Imperial Japan, where the navy held an extremely important position in the government, and having direct acess to the emperor as well as the prime minister that they would have 0 say in: 1: When a war ends 2: What battles to fight 3: Where to place their navy during wartime operations 4: What countries you decide to invade 5: What a peace treaty could look like 6: Their own budget in the middle of a war that could decide the fate of their own nation. This game would be great if it were not for the feeling of you being used like a piece of toilet paper to wipe the ass of the current leader in a regime that was run by the military in the real world.
This is what U:AD should've been... main concerns for me are to do with balancing and a lack of customisability to certain settings. Hopefully the game moves in a positive light in the future. Frustrating learning curve, and unforgiving RNG elements. However it offers things you can't find elsewhere such as in depth carrier operations including input on your own aircraft design and missile age naval combat.
