Might be THE best resident evil game to date. loved the story and the characters. first person makes the game hella scary at times. 10/10 game. had ton of fun trying to 100% it
Resident Evil Village Review: Great Action, Better Story, but Mixed Perspectives The Good: A Step Up in Storytelling: The narrative feels much stronger and more compelling than Resident Evil 7. Toning down the excessive gore and blood-shed allowed the actual plot and characters to breathe, making for a more engaging experience overall. Brilliant Area Variety: The shift in areas throughout the game keeps things incredibly fresh. Moving from the gothic Castle Dimitrescu to the psychological horror of the doll’s house (House Beneviento), through the flooded dam, and finally into the mechanical factory feels like playing through distinct chapters. Each zone features unique enemies, specific loot items, and distinct puzzles that require completely different approaches to solve. Masterclass in Optimization: Massive credit goes to Capcom for the game's heavy optimization. Powered by the RE Engine, it performs beautifully and delivers incredibly smooth framerates relative to the high-tier graphic settings and visuals it pushes on screen. The Third-Person DLC: The addition of the Third-Person Mode in the DLC is a fantastic inclusion, giving players a great alternative way to experience the game and bringing back that classic Resident Evil feel. Solid Combat and Progression: The core gunplay is punchy and responsive. The game also nails its pacing: the first half heavily emphasizes survival horror, but by the time Ethan reaches the factory, it seamlessly transitions into full-on action horror. Because you have heavily upgraded your starting arsenal and bought superior weapons from The Duke, you feel powerful enough to handle the escalating chaos. This pacing mirrors the design style also seen in Resident Evil 9, where a stealth-focused first half eventually opens up into high-octane action. The Bad: Awkward First-Person Camera: While the game is solid overall, the First-Person Perspective (FPP) needed more polish. A major annoyance is how the weapons are locked heavily toward the right side of the screen, even when you are aiming down sights. It feels off-center and visually jarring if you prefer playing in FPP. Navigation and Objective Vagueness: The map can feel a bit confusing to navigate at times. This isn't helped by the objective markers, which occasionally fail to accurately describe what you actually need to do to complete the task and move forward. The Verdict: Resident Evil Village is a fantastic entry in the series that fixes its predecessor's narrative flaws while delivering an incredibly varied, evolving gameplay loop and flawless technical performance. Its excellent progression and distinct zones make it a highly rewarding ride, even if the first-person camera execution and map clarity leave a bit to be desired. Score: 9/10
Really enjoyed Resident Evil 8: Village. I never played RE7 as that just looked too scary for me (getting too old for horror), but this game gives you the option of getting caught up on the events that happened in RE7. Very amazing how it managed to intertwine multiple horror genres tastefully. Survival, Psychological, Action. Without spoilers - the twist was extremely unexpected, very cool that I started playing this mid 2026 and it wasn't spoiled for me. Over-all - very fun game!
one of the best resident evil games oat, tbh game was so good but ofc capcom had to put on atleast 1 gooner character right? wrong, they put up 5 of them lol, anyway the game itself is great, the graphics great, story so beautiful, but the game mechanics are mediocre in my opinion. overall 10/10.
