Reviews
Games are more than just graphics and gameplay they're experiences. Every review I write comes from my own journey, not from someone else's opinion. So this isn't the final verdict on a game; it's simply my adventure through it. When I finished Resident Evil Village, I felt like I had just completed one of the best modern survival horror games. This is the second and final chapter of Ethan Winters' story, and I honestly think Capcom gave him a memorable conclusion. What impressed me the most was how the game slowly transforms from a terrifying horror experience into an adventurous journey without losing its identity. The atmosphere is simply incredible. The snow-covered village, the gothic castle, abandoned churches, eerie forests, hidden laboratories, and the factory all have their own personality. Every new area feels different from the last, which keeps the game fresh from beginning to end. As someone who loves taking screenshots in games, Resident Evil Village is a dream. There were so many moments where I stopped progressing just to admire the scenery. The lighting, environmental details, architecture, and overall art direction are beautiful enough to make you forget you're playing a horror game for a few moments. The story is another reason why I enjoyed the game so much. At first, everything seems supernatural, but as the story unfolds, the truth behind the Mold, Ethan's abilities, and the strange events begins to make sense. The plot twists completely changed the way I looked at the story, and by the end I realized that many of the clues had been there all along. It made me want to replay the game just to notice everything I missed the first time. One of my favorite things about Resident Evil Village is its variety of bosses. Every Lord feels unique, not only in appearance but also in gameplay and personality. Lady Dimitrescu brings classic gothic horror, Donna Beneviento delivers one of the most disturbing and psychological sections in the game, Moreau adds tragedy behind his monstrous appearance, and Heisenberg completely changes the pace with his chaotic personality and industrial setting. None of them feel repetitive, and each encounter feels like its own chapter. I have to admit that Lady Dimitrescu genuinely scared me while exploring the castle. Hearing her footsteps getting closer created a level of tension that stayed with me throughout that section. After she was defeated, the fear factor naturally became less intense, but in return the game became even more adventurous. From that point on, I found myself exploring every corner of the village, searching for treasures, secrets, and hidden paths instead of simply worrying about survival. The gameplay strikes a great balance between survival horror and action. Exploration always feels rewarding because there is almost always something useful or valuable waiting around the next corner. The Duke's merchant system, weapon upgrades, and treasure hunting constantly give you reasons to keep exploring instead of rushing through the story. If I had one complaint, it would be the Mercenaries DLC. Getting an S Rank can become frustrating if you aren't fast enough or don't know the perfect route. It feels more like a test of memorization than pure skill, and it's the only part of the game that occasionally felt like a chore. The only funny complaint I have is something that almost every horror game does—they always make the coolest and best-looking characters the villains. Even when I don't want to, I eventually have to kill them... and honestly, I felt bad doing it. Overall, Resident Evil Village perfectly balances horror, action, exploration, and storytelling. It isn't just a horror game; it's an unforgettable adventure filled with memorable characters, incredible environments, and some of the most creative boss encounters in the series. Ethan Winters' journey ends on a powerful note, and for me, this is one of the best Resident Evil games Capcom has ever made.
my dream summer in the village
I first played RE8 when it was initially released. Although I had enjoyed it, I hadn't fully experienced the game, perhaps expecting something more like RE7 (less open world, more horror). But now I'm glad I replayed it to 100%. There is always a pleasant experience in doing multiple playthroughs, where you become more and more efficient, and you feel reconnect to your past selves through shared experiences. The game is absolutely gorgeous too.
