This game is overhated. Does it stand up to it's predecessor? No, but it is better than people make it out to be. I was almost brainwashed into not playing this game. Almost every review or post I came across about it was negative and telling me not to get it, let alone give it a shot. Thankfully, I didn't listen and purchased the game during a steam sale. The graphics are amazing and the game runs like a dream! The story is engaging and there wasn't a single point in my gameplay where I felt bored. I really enjoyed exploring the map and all the boss fights (even though that immortal piece of ♥♥♥♥ kept coming back..). The characters are, of course, very likeable and it is not a secret that this game features one of the best RE protagonists (capcom, please give her more games). While I do love this game, it does have shortcomings. - It's way too short, especially if you're buying it at full price (at time of review, it's 40 euros) - Nemesis doesn't feel like a stalker enemy, virtually every encounter is scripted, which makes it fall short compared to RE2R's Mr. X - A huge chunk of the original game's content was straight up cut out (clock tower, raccoon park, etc.) Despite all that, it's still worth a shot. I strongly believe that the only reason this game gets so much hate is because of nostalgia. You are allowed to prefer the original over the remake, but this game is far from bad. If you're new to RE and cannot get behind the tank controls, play RE3R. If you're a completionist that wants to play every RE game under the sun, play RE3R. If you're just looking for a good time, play RE3R. If you want the full original RE3 experience, then... just don't play RE3R (or play both!).
