Red Faction Two has almost nothing to do with the original game. It is essentially its own game but instead they took all the guns and music from the first game, made them worse, and then half a**ed everything into what can't be called a sequel imo. You won't miss anything skipping this game. The boss fights were easy and the mechanics were easy to abuse. The story was boring and the shallow characters brought no emotions or anything to appreciate, unless you were in kindergarten, in fact, I would only recommend this game as an intro fps to a 10 year old kid or maybe younger. I actually was gifted this game as an intro fps as a kid, and just never got to completing it until now, yet I have replayed the first game more than once. I also didn't know how to make this game playable since I was a kid (I only needed to change the resolution ig).

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The best Red Faction game imo. Literally been playing it ( on ps2 ) since it came out. One of my all time fav games. Anyone hating on this is blinded by nostalgia from the first game. Bought it on here but it wouldn't run, gonna try it again in the future. I would absolutely LOVE to play it on KB&M, prolly feels amazing. SPAM ME WITH MESSAGES IF IT E V E R GETS A VR PORT. I WOULD DO ANYYYYTHING FOR RF2 TO BE PLAYABLE IN VR.
Shrike absolutely went to the Prometheus school of running away from things.

Wow all I can say is just wow.. what happened to this franchise already? Red Faction 2 is probably one of the weirdest sequels I've ever played for any game. I'm not sure you can even call this a sequel because it so loosely ties into the first game you can skip it and play this one and miss nothing. The game has you playing as a new character named Alias who is part of some group of other super soldiers or something, honestly the dialogue and the cutscenes were directed so poorly it was honestly hard to understand what was going on. You work your way through some levels until you finally decide its time to kill some dictator dude and then BAM we're at the climax of the game. The rag tag team separates and you gotta get revenge. If theres anything I noticed with volition games is that they are mostly always about getting revenge on those who wronged you. After some boring fights you finally get revenge and beat them. My first initial thoughts are I'm very disappointed with the way red faction is portrayed in this game. Sure they weren't portrayed any better in the first game since they are useless but here they are even more useless and used as nothing but fodder for the enemy. I also feel bad for the leader where he just gets slapped around then popped by one of your ex members. Honestly you could call these people something else and I'd honestly believe you. It reminds me alot of what happened to the saints in the Saints Row reboot. This game plays like one of those TV show games you see one of the character playing and you'd think its a fake game. The art direction this time gives it this fake plasticy feel and Idk it feels more like a video game? I guess thats the best way I can put it. I honestly didn't like the art style they went with and even playing in wide screen at full res it still looks very off. The gunplay this time doesn't feel as satisfying as RF1. The guns have this weird floaty feeling and your kit this time around feels very bloated. You have so many weapons but not enough enemies to use them on. The enemies you do get to fight, some of them are ridiculously bullet spongy. You'll be sitting there shooting and they don't go down. There's is like a total of 3 weapons you'll use more then the others. Also I can't believe how they massacred my boy the rail gun. It feels like a cheap toy and its not as good as it was in RF1. Also F THAT final boss fight. Holy this boss fight was super tedious and annoying to get through. Also this is one of those games without skippable cutscenes so you'll be seeing that final cutscene plenty of times if you die which will happen because not only is the final boss a massive bullet sponge he has two phases and one will insta kill you if you stay still even for a second! It also doesn't have subtitles so have fun trying to figure out what they are saying when you have explosions going off on screen or the sound of a gun going off. I also didn't care for any of the characters. When they betrayed me I felt nothing because our team building and bonding happened off screen and before the game even happens so when it happens I was like "Oh well time to get em I guess". I guess the only cool one is Jason Statham but that's because he's cool and has an awesome voice. I'm not sure what happened but the writing in this game is terrible. The levels also suck and are extremely boring to look at. Sure RF1 also had alot of boring maps but atleast the characters and the story were better in that game. It also doesn't help this game doesn't have any damn checkpoints. It has a save system which is USELESS! It doesn't save where you left off it just restarts the WHOLE DAMN LEVEL WHEN YOU DIE! The performance was also really good on Linux. Luckily this time you don't need any mods, just set your resolution and get to playing. All cutscenes except for 1 work but I'm pretty sure thats a bug because I was looking online and there's mods to fix it. It could also be an FPS problem but honestly this game is so forgettable that I couldn't careless if I missed a cutscene or couldn't see or hear what they were saying. This game also has like 4 different endings which I will not be bothering to unlock because I won't be playing this turd ever again. You can beat it in one sitting. I only have the time I do in it because they patted out the ending of the game like they did RF1 and made the final boss extremely tedious to fight. All in all I'm giving RF2 a 3/10 🍕 slices and the reason I rate it so highly is because I really enjoyed RF1 and this abomination is part of the same franchise. If this were a different game franchise I would have it like a 2. This game is NOT dad certified and its NOT worth your time. Only play this if you're a completionist like me or if you really wanna kill 3/4 hours of your life doing something mind numbing but honestly just use the money you'd spend on this game and go get a pack of gum or an Arizona or hell even a cup noodle. You'll enjoy that way more. Let's hope the rest of the series is better.
