It can run Crysis!
It was quite the pleasure to play this after all those years. OG, not the "remaster" based on Xbox 360 code. Graphics are still holding strong and physics are way better than in many new titles. Gunplay feels juicy and the suit powers are fun to use. Maps are not exactly open, but you can have a lot of fun hunting enemies. Grab "c1 launcher" from GitHub to make this less annoying to run, You might need to manually edit desired resolution in the .ini file in MyDocuments.
This is one of those games that feels bigger than just the game itself. Yeah, everyone remembers the “Can it run Crysis?” meme, and honestly, it earned that reputation. For its time, the visuals were insane, and even now the island, the lighting, the jungle, and the scale still have a special kind of charm. But the reason it actually holds up is not just the graphics. The nanosuit makes the whole thing fun in a way a lot of shooters still don’t. You can cloak, rush in with strength, tank damage with armor, flank enemies, mess around with vehicles, or just turn a simple fight into complete chaos. I also love how much freedom the game gives you. It doesn’t always feel like you’re being pushed down one hallway. You see a camp, you look at the terrain, you decide how dumb or smart you want to be, and then the game lets you try it. Still a classic. A bit old-school now, sure, but it has personality, ambition, and that rare feeling of a game that really tried to push PC gaming forward.
I played this in 2013, and again now in 2026. It was fun in the open world parts to be able to use the suit experimentation. The switch to fighting aliens instead of Korean's came at a good time and the ice and alien environment change up. Fun for about a 8 hour or so playthrough.
