Reviews
With almost 50 hours into the game i can give a good review from those, thinking about buying this game. Phantom Doctrine is overall a good strategy game, the story is nice and reminds me of old games or other media portraying the secret agents and agencies in the 80´s in the height of the cold war. You and your agency try to uncover the secret operations of Beholder. While you are managing your base, train your agents to get them new skills, pump them up with drugs to enchance their abilities or send them on missions around the globe you interrigate or brain wash enemy agents in your own MkUltra torture room. When you are on a combat mission, it almost plays like X-COM. You can choose the agents you want to take with you and choose some agents who will support you on the sidelines with cameras or precise sniper fire. You start in an infiltration phase and some of your agents even can wander between the enemies in their disguises. If you are a good strategist you can finish a lot of mission while still being undetected. Now to the downsides. -Maps can get repetetive, most of the variation come in form of the story mission. - Unlike in X-COM, you don´t see a percentege or bar to calculate if your agent will hit the target or not. - Stopping Beholder agents will get kinda boring late in the game and I chose to sabotage their missions instead of infiltrating them and capture the enemy agent in a combat mission. - AI is sometimes a little bit dumb in infiltration phase but will absolutely shred you in combat phase. - The puzzle game to decript secret files gets pretty boring very fast, fells more like a chore then a challenge Overall a good X-COM Style game with it´s own little perks and features. If it´s on sale you could buy it and try it out but don´t pay the full price.

Un clone di X-Com, non all'altezza di quest'ultimo, ma comunque ottimo.
