This is marketed as a throwback to the first Assassin's Creed game which is one of my all time favorite video games. The setting returns to the Middle East, although in this case it's placed in Baghdad, Iraq in the midst of the Abbasid Calpihate instead of the 12th century Levant. Having the Arabic language option made this all quite appealing. However, when it comes to gameplay it's same old modern AC which is to say mediocre as ♥♥♥♥ and not well thought out. Dodge button on X instead of B for a simple example, and having light and heavy attacks combined onto RB. Generic parry system. Mid. And movement, the most important part of the early AC games, is also stupidly basic. Literally just hold the stick forward while holding down A. Boo. But here's my biggest point of contention: I can forgive all of that ♥♥♥♥ if the story is good. That's what I really fell in love with for the first 4 games of the franchise, great historical research paired with interesting characters. This game though? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Basim is the most unlikeable character I've ever played. Here's the breakdown: Dude is a complete fanboy for the Assassins without knowing anything about them other than that they give him jobs that pay like ♥♥♥♥. His girlfriend the whole time is like hey why dont we focus on things that actually make money, why are you begging to join this group you dont know ♥♥♥♥ about, and his only answer is "i have higher aspirations than being a common thief." And that's why he wants to join a group he knows nothing about?? But then Basim has the BIG BRAIN idea to steal a chest from the Caliph's palace to impress the Assassins. He opens the chest, gets bamboozled by the Ancient Aliens magic tech inside, and gets ambushed by the Calpih himself. As Basim is LITERALLY reaching for the Calpih's knife to stab him his girlfriend comes to the rescue and ganks the Calpih right in the neck. Basim then flees without his girlfriend and just assumes she'll make it home. She doesnt. Next day he goes and finds all the poor lil orphan kids were hanged by the vengeful government and he BLAMES HIS GIRLFRIEND. "If you didn't kill him this wouldn't have happened!!" You were going to kill him dumbass! And both of you were just as trackable to that orphanage as the other, what the ♥♥♥♥ is Basim talking about?? 0/10 character no interest in continuing his dumbass adventure
This feels the closest to returning to Assassins Creed (the original) that I've felt from any of the games. Loving it so far.
Pretty fun game, shame about ubisoft connect issues though
This is a really underrated and slept-on game! The main story keeps you engaged, and the side content is also amazing. The stealth in this game is probably the best in the series. The DLC is kind of underwhelming, though. The tools are the best I’ve seen in the AC series; the ways to customize them and actually use them feel great! The skill tree is neither over- nor underwhelming—it is absolutely spot on.
Don't worry about this being unplayable on PC, this was only meant to be a DLC for another game, so Ubisoft had no reason to polish/quality control it. Ubisoft is also a small indie company, so we cant expect too much.
Herkese selamlar.
6/10
Pros: +Challenging stealth missions +Multiple possibilities +Nice turn back to original AC style +Doesn’t require grind Cons: +Main plot is weak in the middle part of the game +Mediocre voice acting +Weak enemy AI +Direct combat is shallow +Mission structure is repetitive An AC game that finally seems like their ‘old style’. Pretty short, with numerous stealth missions that you can take multiple different approaches to. The only thing that spoils the gameplay is weak enemy AI, as the opponents seem completely stupid. And when something goes wrong — and in stealth games something always goes wrong — the direct combat is simple, as it should be, but it feels stripped of everything it could’ve had. The story is deep, but weakly conveyed throughout the game, getting lost in between the missions. Furthermore, after AC Valhalla, the main character is not the most pleasant one to play for. A nice one-time-experience, but nothing more.
After they released Mirage saying "This game will follow the roots of the original AC games" Which i did not believe and thought its just gonna be 'nother copy paste from Bugi yet who would have guess i was both wrong and right let me explain. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3753552586 I liked the game yes, it was the feeling like old AC games but with the additions of the new stuff from the last couple of games, Storyline combined with slowly revealing the "Order" so that we can take em out while Our noble Basim starts as theif under the Dervish wants to do more joins to hidden ones which is the assassin guild of Bagdad learns, trains, proves himself so that he can be one of them, Starts his journey while he discover and learns himself. His past, his future and his current state and duties. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3755904004 Finished the main story, overall storyline is not the strongest no emotional connection between characters yet Basim carried the game to the end with his struggle and mystery behind his past and his visions/dreams. Just like in Origins and others you hunt corrupt and power hungry cult that controls the city of Bagdad and its common people. Game made to be finished in short amount of time map is small but enough you dont do 100 repetitive side missions or collect 100 random stuff you can collect things that are collectable are found pretty easy and not much of them which makes the game not boring in my opinion. focused on storyline and side missions feels as contacts for assassin guild, Tales from bagdad and some missions are just real history or historic stories and legends like Ali baba and his 40 thieves is such a told story in my childhood. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3755905485 I believe for a 15$ game this is a alright game, city of bagdad designed with care and beuty historical places and accuracy made with passion and interesting. I enjoyed my time playing it hope they follow this path but with more cinematic storylines just like back in the day.
Assassin's Creed Mirage is actually a pretty decent game.
When I bought it, I hadn't heard anything about it at all - no hate, no praise. It honestly feels like the game slipped under the radar and people just skipped right past it. This really surprised me, so I went in with zero expectations (though maybe that's just a quirk of my own information bubble).
(WARNING: Played on High difficulty)
At first, I was skeptical because of all the online hate surrounding the previous titles. I've played the mythological trilogy (Valhalla on Steam, Odyssey and Origins on Epic Games), and out of all of them, I only ever finished Origins. Initially, I tried to nitpick everything - the combat, the stealth, etc. - but after about 10 hours of playtime, I realized I was actually enjoying the game. Sure, it has its flaws. Sometimes the parkour magnets you to the wrong objects (which was infuriating), and the combat can feel a bit clunky at times, but none of it is a dealbreaker. Beautiful scenery, satisfying progression, and you don't have to grind or unlock trash perks at all (looking at you, Origins and Odyssey). To the people who love shouting "the older games were better": games shouldn't just copy each other 1:1, that would turn game development into a repetitive assembly line. If you hate the new entries that much, just replay the old classics and wait for Black Flag resynced.
7.5/10
