I really really really want to like this game, but it just always grinds to a slog every time I sit down to give it another shot. I think the developers are so close to striking gold, but not quite.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Slow, slow and even more slow. The game's pace is so slow that you can literally fall asleep watching it play. After a while the water starts rising and rising destroying your buildings again and again and again. This might all be realistic but in terms of gameplay it's slow and unenjoyable. It's a pity because the main premise of the game is interesting but the game is just not fun to play.
Honestly, I had a blast with this game. Finished my first playthrough not long ago. I was itching for a casual building game and I felt right at home. It had been a while since a game was able to get me this excited. Getting water, seeing the plants grow, I was really proud. The game keeps you on edge with attacks, the amount of ressources available(can be fixed with mod) and with your own ability to generate too much O2 because you like seeing this grass the and trees grow(which will in turn allow Mars to burn to ashes). Some people have commented on replayability, I can sort of understand that. You always terraform Mars. It's the planet itself so it doesn't change. However, there are multiple endings to explore if you play the story mode which, to be honest, blew my mind. Overrall, it's a really good game in my opinion and I'll come back to it after some time I'm sure.
屎味的巧克力。核心系统(地球化)还挺好玩的,就是需要捏鼻子的地方太多,最让人难以忍受的部分是这宛如子供向动画片一般的台本和剧情
I logged so much time in this game not because it is good, but because it was the new colony sim in my life at a time when I needed many hours of the kind of escapism that only colony sims and 4x can give me (Stellaris also racked up a lot of much more deserved play hours during this period of my life). This game is pretty shallow as a sim, and has a pretty dumb story with bad voice acting. It does scale in a satisfying way, but if you like things that scale just for the sake of scaling, play cookie clicker.
Story spoilers will be in this review. As much as I wanted to like this game due to the concept, I can't. While it's certainly decent when you first start, it only takes a few hours of gameplay for a myriad of minor annoyances to add up to the point where the game is nothing but poorly made. First problem is there is a large amount of information that simply isn't given to the player. I noticed a building had an icon next it, yellow crosses in red lines. Still have no idea what it means, because there's no key or legend that tells you what the icons mean. When mines run dry you aren't told, the mine simply powers down automatically. Buildings tell you they produce 1 resource. 1 a day, a month? Who knows. Next, the evolution of the gameplay elements feel poorly implemented. You get a meteor storm early in the game, and are told that until Mars builds an atmosphere, it will keep happening. I never saw another one. You eventually unlock a military tech tree to be able to fight off enemy incursions. After fighting off 2-3 waves, you can then attack their base. Wipe it out, and they're never seen again, rendering the entire military tree completely redundant. The story has parts which are absurdly nonsensical. After the first enemy attack, mission control rings you up, gets confused when you mention the attack, says there's nothing on their investigations to indicate an attack actually happened, and then they ask you if you're sure it did. And you reply with "from what I can surmise, an attack seems the most likely scenario". I literally just watched enemy drones comes out of the fog of war and destroy my buildings, what the ♥♥♥♥ are you talking about? Another problem, and this is the biggest one. Citybuilders are based on either strategy (ie managing resources and population requirements) or aesthetics (making it look really nice). This game has neither of those. You can make a nice looking 'city, because you don't control the road placement, and there is SO MUCH ROAD PLACEMENT, and there's not really much strategy in the way of resource management. It's simply see a deposit, build a mine on it. Maybe there's some advanced strats that you can develop in the lategame after playing this for dozens of hours, but there's nothing to keep you playing until that point.
There's quite a bit of stuff in this game to like. The terraforming aspect of the game is very cool and well thought out; that part of the game gets a big thumbs up. BUT the logistics mechanics in this game just down right suck. Its so bad that it makes the rest of the game frustrating especially the more you expand your industry throughout the planet the more unmanageable it becomes. Therefore I can't recommend it.

I want to like this game, but one of it's core mechanics is just bad. The roads/workers system is supposed to be largely automated to reduce stress, but it ironically needs more depth to prevent that. workers will autodefine idiotic boundaries and because road placement is automatic you need to carefully fuss over placement to make actually functional areas. The amount of resources you have versus how many you need is also very out of whack, and custom storage is simply not up to to the task of fixing bad worker priority. Flooding also just sucks. no water proofing upgrade anywhere? come on. Finally, District managment doesn't work because of how much stuff you need to setup at a basic level, it's like starting over from scratch. hyperloops arent a solution either, because you cant custom pack cargo for new landing sites. I'd like to like this game, but they clearly have priorites that aren't the mechanics. and the story. . . isnt good. sorry, it isnt. it's basic and intermittent enough that you have long stretches of nothing. Just play heart of the machine instead, it's the better version of this. Edit: just found out about blue mars dlc. go ♥♥♥♥ yourself, that should be part of the base game.
