My hands do not get sweaty when playing games. Doesn't matter if it's competitive or some intense high-action-packed nonsense -- it's never mattered. White Knuckle is one of those extremely rare special games that makes me sweat like a hog scurrying through a damp, wet swamp on the hottest of humid summer days. Thank you, White Knuckle devs. I truly do love dripping nasty, viscous bodily fluids that pool beneath my ass-cheeks and marinate into a soup of my filthy essence. It's truly a mesmerizing, surreal experience that impels me to keep playing!
i want to play this game more but i want to play with friends, they should totally make vanilla multiplayer
This game is so sick. I really want to congratulate the developers for making such a uniquely fun and addicting game. The gameplay is great. The style is fantastic. The music is hauntingly evocative (and awesome). The denizens (creatures) are highly engaging. The atmosphere is something I have never seen anything like. You really feel like you are climbing out of "ten thousand meters of concrete and decay". It is really good at giving you the constant experience of looking up and down, and seeing nothing but the tunnel ending in an abyss in both directions. This game has a demo. Try it out. It is quite long for a first timer - I beat it in about 5 hours. If you like it, then buy the whole game. I can guarantee you won't regret it. Side note - This game has the best trailers I've ever seen.
Honestly? This game is one of my favourites when it comes to having to do parkour and react accordingly to your surroundings, especially with the new Nest update. Back in September, when they released the Abyss update, that was very cool as it introduced the aspects of Artifacts and their various uses, which got me hooked onto the game again (and also had to make me do the endless achievement for reaching 10000 metres, which was fun) If you want a horror climbing experience that is fully replayable, then I would fully suggest investing some time into White Knuckle. It might be difficult at first, sure, but once you do learn the basics behind the game, uncover the entities that reside within the Superstructure, and find out their weaknesses, then you will come to love the game. The nest update recently released (about today), and holy the developers do NOT fail when it comes to making fire updates. I will let you guys see it for yourselves I will be looking towards more updates from Dark Machine Games about White Knuckle, and I wish the best for the development process of this game towards the developers.
“Nonbinary coded games”, eh? Cringe. So thaaaat’s why the announcer sounds like that... Had a feeling. I don’t care whether it’s intentional, or how intentional it is—the announcer is quite annoying, when I would much prefer they be quite quiet. Their nonbinary timbre does feel dystopian, I’ll grant you that. The dialogue writing doesn’t help matters either. Haha, aren’t we so self-aware and hip and clever? The “no leave” bit at the end of the tutorial in particular goes on for far too long, to name but one example. Speaking of which, the tutorial probably needs a rework altogether. Drop the Stanley Parable typeface from everywhere. It’s distracting. “Ludonarratively dissonant”, even, arguably, from what I can tell so far. Find a new font. Commission one. Something. Anything. It’s also unwieldy and hard to parse during the tutorial. Aside from contending with learning the clunky controls themselves, I’m also having to find and walk up to walls of text, constantly, in order to read them legibly. Consider using floating HUD text, with customizable scale/size/type, instead. Another thing. “Redness” as an indicator of remaining stamina is relative, unreliable, misleading, imprecise. Elegant somewhat maybe, but far from perfect information. During the tutorial at least, the “room tone”/background noise is distractingly repetitive and monotonous. Could it loop less or be a longer loop? Music, even ambient music, could also help mask it potentially. Refund [strike]soon I’m thinking.[/strike] received!
no difficulty adjustments for ppl like me its not fun its really repetitive the perks dont go well together and the first 2 major regions are really boring 3/10
I was expecting a climbing game, but got an intense resource and threat management roguelite with insane skill expression, atmosphere, and variety. Barely scrapping through Habitation with 0 lives to spare and no prior knowledge was one of the most terrifying and engaging gaming experiences I've ever had. Incredible gem of a game, more then deserves the 98% positive review score.
stunning game, amazing artsyle. wish i could experience more of this game but i can't even get past ascent 01
