Ominous Tales: The Forsaken Isle (IHOG) Options include separate sliders for Music, SFX and Voices, Full-screen, Widescreen and Custom Cursor. Three difficulties to choose from, plus a Custom Mode! Story: You have been having terrible nightmares about a woman - Annabel - beseeching you to save her, and the monstrous gaze of the one who torments her. Travel to the "Forsaken Isle", as the locals call it, and face the vengeful spirits that reside there. Our Journal tracks the story and gives us some extra information, and there is also a tab for pages that we find from Annabel's diary. Gameplay: Be on the lookout for THREE types of Collectibles: Diary pages, Tormented Souls (ghosts) and Claw Marks. Our MAP is interactive, and can show where there are actions that need to be taken, as well as which scenes have collectibles that you haven't found yet. Click on any location to instantly transport. Using a HINT during the adventure portion of the game will either direct your attention to an area of the scene or give you a directional hint. Inventory items that have a + sign next to them are interactive - just click to zoom in. The Hidden Object Scenes alternate between interactive find-by-list scenes and non-interactive find-by-silhouette scenes. HOS do repeat (as mentioned above), but items you found the first time around stay gone. There are not many HOS in the game, total, and they can be SKIPPED! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1778464343 Sights and Sounds: I am very impressed with the quality of the voice overs. Every one of them is really well done, and even have appropriate emotions (something that is frequently lacking in casual games)! I also LOVE the graphics - they are SO beautiful; they drew me right in. The music is great, although it jumps up now and then, and I really like the SFX they use for when we find something or solve a puzzle. Thank you devs for the separate sliders, seriously! ;D This is not a Collector's Edition, but there is some Extra Content:

5 Wallpapers
Before and after Concept Art
3 Music Tracks (cannot be saved)
Collectibles: 8 Diary Pages, 9 Tormented Souls and 12 Claw Marks
8 pages of background story
Verdict: Can be played as either an IHOG or an adventure-lite. Gorgeous graphics, excellent voice overs and interesting story - Great quality all the way around! It is, however, woefully short, coming in at anywhere between 2 to 2.5 hours of gameplay. A lovely way to spend a couple of hours~
This is a short, enjoyable hidden object/ puzzle game. However, the asking price is ridiculous because it takes only a couple of hours to reach the end. And there's no bonus chapter. So ONLY get this if it has an exceptionally good sale and you don't mind playing a bite-sized game. Beautiful graphics and voice acting (some good, some cheesy) make the quality of Ominous Tales better than quite a few HOs out there. It's a shame it's not longer.
Hidden Object Adventure Game. The graphics are very nice and the gameplay smooth, I didn't find any bugs. Hidden object scenes are fun because you have to interact to find everything you need to complete the search; there are not always the names of the objects, sometimes there are shadows to understand what you need to look for. The minigames are quite original and pleasant to play, there are also many collectibles to collect in the various locations, 3 different types. In the Extras you can find backgrounds, sketches, character stories, music and check out all your collectibles that you have found. PLOT We are in England about 30 miles from the coast there is an island that the local inhabitants have nicknamed "The Forsaken isle" was once a nice welcoming village rich in trade with the Port, but now it is just a place in ruins and abandoned, legends say it is haunted, inhabited by ghosts, necromancers and packs of ferocious wolves. Unfortunately, an entrepreneur skilled in the trade decided to put his thriving business on this island, but due to an unforeseen event he decided to make his daughter disappear on this island, now she has returned as a ghost, determined to make her story known. and take revenge for the injustice suffered. It is up to us to investigate what happened, a local boatman will offer to take us to this island, then with the help of this missing girl Annabelle a poor soul tormented by memories, we will have to find out if it is all true what they tell if they are legends or if truth. Can you face an evil wizard Vicent and his ferocious wolves? Only those who have courage and do not give up will be able to give peace to this ghost girl and free the island from the curse. CONCLUSION I recommend it, it is a valid product, well made and can be played safely without problems.
Ominous Tales: The Forsaken Isle
Hidden object game of 2017. There is an island 30 miles off the coast of England that locals call The Forsaken Isle. This once bustling port city is now said to be home to ghosts, necromancers and dangerous man-eating wolves! Definitely all just legends. A short but good game, quite difficult. As usual, it's crowded here. Nevertheless, I managed them all without help, if you don't succeed there is a help function. You can skip the mini-games, which I mostly did, as I almost always do. If you want to solve all this yourself, you will have many hours of fun here. The search has a logical structure. Unfortunately, the help is slow to load. So you have time to make a coffee. But I rarely needed them. Technically well implemented and error-free. One of the better games from HH Games. A very good story is told. Let yourself be surprised. I can recommend it. Whilst researching your family history, you have a dream about a beautiful ancestor called Lady Annabel, who asks you to save her from eternal torment. Ominous Tales The Forsaken Isle is developed by Urchin Games for HH-Games. The Forsaken Isle is located just off the coast of England and is said to be the home of ghosts, necromancers and dangerous man eating wolves. Vincent Faulkner, who drinks wolf's blood to give himself powers, established his trading empire on the island and is attempting to bring Lady Annabel back to life. There are 4 modes of play, including Custom. There are 3 different collectables to find throughout the game - spirits, letters of a journal, and claw marks. A fast travel map is available which indicates actions available and if collectables have not been found. Hidden object areas are mostly written items, however there are a few silhouettes. The hidden object areas can be skipped, just like puzzles. Extras include wallpapers, concept art, written stories about the characters and downloadable music. Pros: * Beautiful graphics * Nice voice acting * Adequate story * No bugs Cons: * The game is short - 2-2.5 hours * No achievements or trading cards A beautiful and enjoyable hidden object game to get lost in for a couple of hours. 8/10

[th] This review was submitted for Elite Giveaways, where every game deserves a review. TL;DR: Too short, don't buy I have played literally hundreds of Hidden Object Games. Most of them are cheesy, and so is this one, but that alone doesn't justify a thumbs down. It's part of the job description. Hidden Object Games usually make no sense, and their plots don't qualify them for a Hugo Award. But this one doesn't even try. Don't you love hidden object scenes where you have to find a dozen items, just to be awarded with one that was never in the scene to begin with? And don't you love spending almost ten euros for a game that has a total of thirteen scenes to offer? I'm not talking hidden object scenes (there's maybe half a dozen of them), but the point-and-click scenes that make up the whole game. Thirteen of them, and it's over. After spending a total of three scenes just getting of a bloody ship, when the second-but-last scene had me in front of the villain's mansion door I though I was getting a second act inside the mansion. But no. Get inside, there's one last scene (called "The Lair"), and you're done. You'll have to solve two more puzzles with Mr. Villain Guy ("Vincent") hovering in midair without doing anything to stop you, then put an end to him, and that's it. Game over. Steam says still it took me almost two hours to finish this game, but Steam also counts the time I spent trying to start the game with the game just vanishing after playing the intro. It's clunky as hell, the cursor is the most unprecise in any game I've played lately, some hidden objects require clicking five or more times to finally vanish, and the game also overrides your mouse settings - so with my lefthanded mouse, I had to use the middle finger to click, and it felt like the game was giving me the middle finger in return. Oh, and did I mention the game forgetting the difficulty settings after restarting? Resets you to "easy" every time you quit (or the game crashes). True, the graphics are nice. But most HOPAs have nice graphics nowadays, we're not in 2007 any more. Voice acting is horrible. The extras a three pieces of soundtrack and a couple of background images - no bonus game play to make up for the short main game. This game is unacceptable short and completely overpriced. I got it at about 80% off in the summer sale and still feel I got ripped off. There are some very good HOPAs out there. Go play one of them. Don't waste your money on this one.
This game is probably a super awesome hidden object game. It wasn't tagged with that so I bought it. It is a hidden object game. Thumbs up for the erotic wolf :D https://youtu.be/q6yEnBR82og
The pros: - stunning art - atmosphere done Just Right - riddles are on the more difficult side of challenging, but not impossible. Nice! - lots of well-hidden extra collectibles in the scenes that both add challenges and fit in and add to the story rather than making you find random goblets or butterflies - the female ghosts has such a deep voice that she sounds like the was voiced by a guy. It's hilarious! The cons: - each time the hint button is used the game crashes for me - same happens when I leave the game to do something else on my computer - game crashes If the game wouldn't have the bug that keeps making it crash it'd be easily one of my favorite HOGs but as things are I can only recommend it for people who don't mind playing it with very little breaks and who like the extra challenge of playing with as little hints as possible.
Game Information "Ominous Tales: The Forsaken Isle" is a Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game. The game was developed by Urchin Games and published by Impossible Mystery Games. Even though this game is not a collector's edition. It does have some extra features. The Game Review Game Visuals I want to mention that the visuals in the game are nicely done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu. Game Audio I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well. Gameplay There are four different difficulty game modes to choose from: Casual; Advanced; Expert and Custom. The notebook keeps track of progression in the game. Such as story events and clues. There is an interactive map in the game. It allows the player to fast travel between each location quickly. It also indicates that there are tasks that can be completed at certain locations within the game. The interactive map is not automatically given at the start of the game. There is a padlock feature that is available to lock the inventory panel in place to make it stationary. There are interactive items in the game. Some of these interactive items may require extra components before they can be interacted with. All interactive items are marked with a symbol in one of the corners. The hidden object scenes consist of the following: Shadow items;Traditional word list and Find 'x' amount items. Some of these hidden object scenes may require little or no interactions. The puzzles are fairly easy to solve without having the need to skip any of them. There are three sets of collectibles in the game: Tormented Souls; Annabel's Diary Pages and Claw Marks. They are scattered throughout the game for the player to find. Miscellaneous There are extra features in the game: Soundtracks; Concept Art; Wallpapers. Most of these extra features can be accessed only after the entire game is completed. Final thoughts: I have found the game enjoyable to a certain extent. The replay value for the game is low. I would recommend this game, but not at the game's full price value.
Ominous Tales: The Forsaken Isle is a Hidden Object puzzle game, the type you normally see on mobile app stores or even as browser apps. There's literally hundreds of these on Steam, mostly published by Artifex Mundi, many of them free on mobile app stores, but this one will cost you money on Steam. There's a 19th century magical/mystery/horror theme to the game, but this is a just a veneer over a tired and overdone set of hidden object minigames and Adobe Flash tier puzzles, wrapped together with a bunch of static screens that you "move" through by tapping your finger on your iPhone screen. While these kinds of games are popular amongst casual gamers, it's difficult to argue this is a great value proposition as a PC game, especially considering the price of this compared to the hundreds of free HOGs on the mobile app stores. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes Ominous Tales: The Forsaken Isle might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 9 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Ominous Tales: The Forsaken Isle has the ridiculous, laughable price of around $7 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $7 asking price for this game could get you games like "Fallout: New Vegas", "The Witcher 2" or "Payday 2". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
