5/10 A simple Sokoban with cats. What is it: A Sokoban-like puzzle game where you have to push cats into their beds. One extra mechanic is involved, one way pipes that cats can go through. The levels are quite simple, starting with just two cats (boxes), with a new cat being introduced every 10 levels, for a maximum of 5. The target audience isn't deep thinkers looking for a challenge, but someone looking for a relaxing, cute puzzle. How hard is it: Easy to mild. Most of the levels have carefully designed obstacles that make the path to follow obvious. The pipes add a bit of complexity, but not much. Most of the time I didn't instantly solve a level is because I tripped myself by trying to plan too far ahead when a direct approach with no planning was all that was needed. The last level is the only one that required some strategy. How long is it: 50 levels, for about 1-2 hours of playtime. Level design: Basic. Quality: Poor. The game looks cute, with pleasant drawings and nicely decorated rooms. However, it constantly crashed after every achievement unlocked, sometimes it would crash right after starting and I had to try 2-3 times to get it running, the settings don't stick, mouse clicks behaved weird for me, I couldn't get the keyboard to work for navigating the menus. The music seems to be about 10 seconds looped. Undo is weird. And lots of other bugs that I won't list here. Basic achievements for progress, and the puzzles aren't that complicated. If the game wasn't so buggy, I would recommend it. Worth the price: Not quite, wait for a sale. Most positive aspect for me: The pipes were an interesting mechanic, but a bit underused. Most negative aspect for me: Too many bugs. Pretty nice game with a good difficulty even though it's not always perfectly balanced. I'm glad that we can undo one step, which wasn't present in the previous game (cats need) which was really annoying when reaching the lasts level. I bought the artist/dev bundle because they are doing a good job and the art style is very pretty. I seriously encourage you to do the same, we need to support artists/dev when one of them is working on offering something new rather than regurgitating the good 'ol games you played 2 days ago. LeJunes, if you read me, please add the undo function on Cats Need if it's possible, it will dissolve all sour feeling you may have when writing a review after spending a lot of time on the lasts levels because of needing to reset. More often than not, the people will leave an angry review regarding a game simply because the last part was annoying.
Roll The Cat is a a cute game with beautiful designs and a fun premise, however it just wasn't for me. I wanted to enjoy it but the game was too tedious and I found myself looking up guides for the later levels. It isn't a game for someone wanting to just relax and wind down, but if you are in search of a challenge then this is recommended for you. There are 50 levels and throughout you get to meet 5 cats and aid them in getting them to sleep. Overall a beautiful game but personally it felt like more of a chore to play then a game.
PROS: + cute art style + chill soundtrack + 50 puzzles CONS: - some bugs & glitches - no cloud saves - some controller UI errors - profile visibility is restricted for this game Comment: A charming little game made by a single developer (except for the music). The art style is simple but cute, especially if you really like cats. Cutscenes offer more details but otherwise it has a top down "MS paint level" of art during gameplay. You have an array of fifty interesting puzzles. The difficulty does not scale each time, you can have an easier time with the next puzzles than the current one. But more (named) cats are added into the puzzles as you progress, up to five. There are no cloud saves. Which in a game with a a lot of levels is an odd choice. But that is the least of the issues because the game is kind of 'janky'. I kept getting stuck, especially at the tunnels, when I tried to move faster than the cats rolled. Could not get out of the 'thank you' credits after finishing. Had to forcefully shutdown the game. Buttons do not translate onto controller properly. It is playable on Steam Deck but has weird display ratio and wrong tips. And the level 30 achievement popped four levels too early. Feels like a first game for the dev. Which is fine if you iterate on the fixes and features. Unfortunately this game was last updated almost four years ago. So while I really am a fan of this solo venture I probably do not recommend it at this time. Slight thumbs down, will gladly re-do review if some of the problems ever get fixed. ------------------------------------------------------------------ If you liked this review you can find more on the Curator page or in my Review Corner.
Roll The Cat is a good puzzle game with some nice designs and a chill ambient. For his low price, it worth it. I recommend it! 💗
It is a cute puzzle game where you have to roll the cats around the levels to get them to their beds. There is 50 levels in total to solve with 2 to 5 cats in each of them. It is nice but I found a pretty nasty bug where the undo move function sends you back to an older level and erases your progress you got since that level. Had it happen 2x. It works fine on Linux with with Proton (6.3-8) but it wont let you minimize or type in a different window on a different screen.
I will not rest until all the cats are nestled all snug in their beds.
Super cute & fun!
A mini game for some brain exercise. 小品輕鬆動腦筋遊戲 Some cat photos through achievements. 獲得成就后可拿到貓圖
