such a good time, while i prefer the second game, this one always feels special to me and simply cannot be replaced by the other two entires.
no more heroes sure is a experience. this game is NOTHING like anything i have ever played before. the fact that this game is supposed to be a spin on "gamers not paying attention to the story" is such a fun experience. the story makes NO sense but it kinda works in its favor with the ending basically being a full 4th wall break ending. the combat is super fun, although it is a bit clunky. travis is such a loser of a main character but i really do love him. and mandatory sidequests kinda suck ill be honest. overall i would give it an 8/10. this game was very good and i am very excited for more suda51 games.
No More hero's is a game that I didn't expect to enjoy. The story was great, Travis is funny, and the hack and slash gameplay is very fun. My only gripe with the game is the shading but what can you do when this game was made for the wii. That being said I would still implore you to join me in the garden of madness.
It's a good game when you know what you're doing.

this game turned me into an otaku.
One of the best games I've ever played, such charm and you can tell its old but man, this is what a game should be.
No More Heroes is truly an outstanding game that stands the test of time not only in a narrative sense but also in gameplay, graphics and especially music as well. Everything about the game is truly peak Grasshopper and it absolutely deserves a spot in Suda51's most iconic games. This PC port of a Wii game is great and it ran at a smooth 60 FPS although in my 31 hours of 100% completing this game to the fullest, I did so happen to encounter two crashes. I don't know what caused them exactly but these two were the only instances of the game acting weird. I know that in years past, this specific port of No More heroes was a lot more buggy apparently according to reviews but in my experience those were the only two hiccups in terms of game performance, other than that I was able to finally enjoy this game after waiting for so long to play it. Although there are two problems with the game that definitely will raise an eyebrow, one being something that was always a part of the game and the other being a PC port specific problem. The first problem is that the lock-on mechanic can be hard to deal with sometimes especially when dealing with a lot of enemies all at once and you're trying to focus on only one of them. While this isn't a problem most of the time, it rears it's ugly head during some of the assassination missions like the "Pizza Butt" (Pizza Bat) missions and you're trying to lock-on to the main guy but instead it goes all over the place and it just becomes very frustrating to try and properly kill the main target, The combat itself while simple alleviates this flaw by feeling extremely good to play and it feels really satisfying seeing your enemies heads and bodies get cut open and shoot blood like a water pipe exploding. The lock-on problem in this game seems to be fixed in No More Heroes 2 and 3 however where locking on is less weird. The second problem that's still an issue after various patches is the baseball minigame seems to still not work properly as I and others still have the same problem of it not going all the way when we try to hit the ball. In the original Wii version it depended on how much you swung the Wiimote during said minigames and even in the mediocre Heroes' Paradise port it depended on when you pressed the action button, so I don't know why it still is the way that it is but thankfully these are only three assassination missions out of 20 and you can still get the achievement tied to this one by playing the other missions. The OST in this game just like with the other No More Heroes games is phenomenal and while yes Heavenly Star was removed in this port of the game, you can still add in the original game specific remixes via these two mods from GameBanana that add the song back in both cutscenes and in the stores: (Heavenly Star Cutscenes Restored): https://gamebanana.com/mods/652508 (Heavenly Star Mod for No More Heroes): https://gamebanana.com/mods/441560 Let me just say that the specific remixes for Heavenly Star in the stores like in Area51 are so good that I would stay in the stores sometimes just to listen to them. They're really awesome remixes to an already peak song from a pretty good artist. The story while being less complex than something like Moonlight Syndrome, The Silver Case, The 25th Ward or Killer7 is still very well written and seeing Travis get embroiled in this garden of madness was really fascinating. I also love the smaller instances of characterization we see from not only Travis but the other ranked assassins and Sylvia as well, Suda really made these characters feel real and human while still making things comedic at the same time. The assassins in this game really can make one do a double take when playing No More Heroes 2 and comparing the two games side by side as in this game, and I'd personally argue in No More Heroes 3 as well, these killers truly felt like people with their own flaws and backgrounds but in NMH2, most of them felt like walking stereotypes. I'm not trash talking No More Heroes 2 as it is a great game in this overall amazing tetralogy but man, the assassins in this game are much more memorable than in its sequel and I think that goes to show how well written they are as characters. I should also mention the jobs as well since that's also an important part of the game. In order to gain money for ranked fights, you need to work actual mundane jobs like gathering coconuts, getting rid of scorpions, cleaning up graffiti, picking up garbage, and I love these jobs and what they represent for the grander narrative in this game. The entire point of them is to remind Travis and by extension the player that not everything in this life is glamorous and that sometimes you have to work 'boring' jobs in order to actually do anything you want to do in this world. This type of gameplay reminds me of one of Suda's earlier titles that I personally love, Flower, Sun and Rain, where it directly subverted expectations of what players would expect from a game in a similar manner. While No More Heroes 1 has slight imperfections, I would gladly recommend this game to anyone who hasn't played it yet either on the Wii, Switch or PC and I'm so glad I finally managed to play this all time classic for the first time.
