Very nice :D
Good game. It has an amazing soundtrack with an enjoyable combat system and a great story, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is the beginning a slog. You have to force yourself to get past it... For your own mental sanity, don't do 100% of this game... You'll lose your last 2 strands of hair from material farming
I should preface this by saying that Nier Automata is one of, if not my favourite, games of all time. So I was really excited when Replicant was announced to play a remake of Automatas predecessor. However I bought into the initial feedback saying it was nothing like Automata, it was tedious to play and ended up passing it by. Now in 2026 I decided to finally give it a shot after running through Automata for the 3rd time, finally getting all the achievements and I have to say, after seeing endings A and B, Replicant is a really good game. The music and combat are as expected, that being really good, and the characters and world are also great. BUT..... I don't like it nearly as much as Automata from a story perspective or a gameplay one. Now if you're going to say "you should get endings C, D and E before saying you don't like the story as much", well that brings me onto my biggest gripe with the gameplay BY FAR, being the amount you have to replay. With Automata, sure you had to replay the first half of the game once, but it was as 9S and it gave additional insight into the machines and what 9S was doing when separated from 2B. Then the third time you started the campaign, you unlocked the second half, which had most of the "oh ****" moments and you only played through it once. Replicant meanwhile asks you to beat the first half, then the second half to get ending A (all good so far). Then it asks you to play the second half again, but with added cutscenes to give more context to the shades (again, it's good stuff). But then I gave a quick look to what was required of endings C and beyond. MORE playthroughs of the exact same story with less and less added to make it new. Now I liked Replicant, I really did, but not enough to play through what is (let's be honest) a pretty tedious game again, and Again, and AGAIN for 10 minutes of new content each time. Now the other issue with replaying the second half of the game, is that those "oh ****" moments, quickly get dull and repetitive on subsequent playthroughs, and they dramatically lose their impact. I'm certainly going to return to Replicant to get the final endings in the future, maybe as a back to back playthrough with Automata, but between the tedious running back and forth and skipping what were once engaging cutscenes, I'm leaving it until I'm ready to replay it, at which point I'll just jump back in to where I left off.
Some insanely disgusting character designs.
Confia
To be honest, I don't know how to feel about this game. I see very entertaining characters, absolute masterpiece of story. But gameplay is really linear and replaying 2nd half of the game multiple times was't much fun either, on the other hand, I played Nier Automata first and expected this game to be more or less same.
If you came here from NieR Automata, don't expect a similar game, they are different. This one has its down moments but overall is the superior game.
Genuinely gorgeous game. I'm speechless.
Gameplay wise, game is ass, there is no reasons to change weapons at all, cuz you can always use OP spear, there is no reasons to use speae, cuz you have OP magic. Also difficulties is very inconsistent, if I was developer I would call them very easy, easy and hell, cuz tf you mean I need to use finishing blows (B button on Xbox gamepad) 8 times to defeat specific enemy on hard, but 2 times on medium and 1 on easy. Also remember that enemy must be laying down for that move and on easy and medium they fall after 1 dark lance, but on hard you need paralyze them first and until then you can use how many dark lances you want, but they won't fall. So this game really needs true medium difficulty in my opinion. And you know what? Story is lwk fire, I don't like ending E, but endings C and D was peak. So overall I liked the game.
