MOUSE: P.I. For Hire

Somewhere between a smoky detective's office and a cheese factory, Mouse P.I. for Hire found its calling — and it's a delight. This is a game with jokes to spare, a look that'll make your eyes fall in love, and just enough gameplay hiccups to keep it humble. Recommended, with one asterisk we'll get to. Gameplay & Map Design Controls are smooth and responsive — your mouse (the detective, not the peripheral) moves like he's got somewhere to be, and every level has its own personality instead of feeling copy-pasted from a cheese wheel factory. Then there's the in-game card game, which shows up like an uninvited in-law and refuses to leave. It's slow, it's repetitive, and it grinds the pace to a halt so hard you'll wonder if the game itself fell asleep mid-hand. It's the low point, full stop — a tedious little side quest that makes you want to fold, literally and figuratively. HOWEVER, it is not required to complete the game nor will skipping it effect the story. Like my in-laws, I just avoided it until it went away. Sound & Graphics Here's where the game earns its keep. The art style is the real star of the show — imagine Toontown from Who Framed Roger Rabbit got left out in the rain, faded to black-and-white, and came back looking like a living, breathing comic book. It's gorgeous. The voice acting is crisp and clean, and the character roster is stacked with enough oddballs and weirdos to fill a rodent-run speakeasy. Story It starts as your bog-standard "whodunit" — a detective, a case, some shifty suspects — and then, without warning, spirals into a full-blown cat-and-mouse chase (pun very much intended, and honestly the whole game seems built around setting that pun up). The script is sharp, packed with jokes and references that land more often than they miss, and it never takes itself too seriously — which is exactly the right call for a hardboiled mouse detective story. Overall If the card game were a person, it'd be the friend who corners you at a party to explain their crypto portfolio — everything else, though, is a blast. Clever writing, gorgeous art, and gameplay that mostly outruns its one weak link. Mouse P.I. for Hire earns its recommendation, cheese and all.

No esperaba que un FPS en blanco y negro con estética de dibujos animados de los años 30 me fuera a enganchar tan rápido, pero aquí estamos. MOUSE: P.I. For Hire te mete en la piel de Jack Pepper, un detective ratón en una ciudad noir llena de corrupción, pandillas y jefes que no se rinden fácilmente. La premisa suena rara y lo es, pero funciona de maravilla. La animación rubber hose hecha a mano fotograma a fotograma es lo primero que te llama la atención, y se mantiene visualmente impresionante en todo momento, tanto que a veces te paras a mirar los escenarios más de lo que deberías en mitad de un tiroteo. El gunplay es rápido y frenético al más puro estilo boomer shooter, con movimiento constante, grappling hook, wall run y doble salto que te obligan a mantenerte en acción en todo momento. El arsenal de armas tiene ese toque cartoon retorcido que le da mucha personalidad a cada encuentro. La banda sonora de jazz de big band orquestal acompaña todo perfectamente y le da una energía que pocas veces se encuentra en un juego de este tipo. Lo poco que llevo jugado me ha dejado con muy buenas sensaciones. Tiene más de 20 niveles y una historia que va escalando en intriga conforme avanzas. Si te gustan los shooters rápidos con mucha personalidad visual y un estilo completamente diferente a lo que hay en el mercado, es una compra muy recomendada.

Ich schätze an dem Spiel sehr, den großen Fokus auf Details mit vielen kleinen Secrets und Anspielungen auf andere Filme und Spiele. Der Artstil ist einmalig (bisher). Leider kommt es einem oft so vor als wenn einem, dass Spiel nur endlos Gegner entgegen wirft und nichts wirklich neues mehr kommt. Viele der Waffen kommen etwas zu spät ins Spiel. Trotzdem Empfehlenswert.

Excellent game. Great art style, amazing animations, superb voice acting, Some weapons are meh, but all the tools you need to poke enemies' bellies, or pop their heads, or freeze them, or melt'em down, all the tools are there. Level design is fantastic, all are unique despite black and white color palette. Too many cheesy jokes though, more than holes in Emmental. *wink*

СПІРНА ГРА. Позитивний відгук тільки через те, що в грі є багато плюсів і я її не закинув, але і МІНУСІВ вистачає. Основна проблема це величезна кількість багів, вони зустрічаються постійно, щось не працює, часто фото камерою не робиться, ачівки не зараховуютсья і тд. Візуал цікавий і до нього звикаєш, музика приємна і в 1 сцені навіть ліцензійна, гейплей середній, як шутер погано, але піде. Загадок не має, більше ставка на середній сюжет. Шикарна озвучка персонажа. Є українська, підтримка UW і не велика ціна, тому гра викликала більше позитиву
