About

Selaco is a brand new original shooter inspired by classics, featuring thrilling action set pieces, destructibility, smart enemies and a fleshed out story taking place within an immersive game world. It draws inspiration heavily from F.E.A.R. in terms of action set pieces, while mixing exploration elements from Half-Life, along with some more modern features.

The story takes place during a violent invasion on Selaco, a massive space station sheltering the last refugees after Earth’s fall just a few years prior. You play as Dawn Collins, an ACE Security Captain who, with her recent promotion and high level security clearances, is digging deep into the truth behind Selaco's murky history. Before she can finish her investigation, Selaco is rocked by explosions and armed invaders.

A lengthy adventure-driven campaign
Selaco offers a massive, uninterrupted journey packed with action and atmosphere. Explore a wide range of environments in a fully connected world - no cutaways, no time jumps, just seamless momentum from start to finish.
Intense Action set pieces
Blast through your environment with impactful weapons that really leave a mark on the world. That once lavish office space, now nothing but a pile of rubble with broken paintings, smashed tables, screen, chairs, smoke, and chunks of debris.
Custom AI
Selaco’s AI was built from the ground up for dynamic, coordinated combat. Enemies communicate, flank, suppress, and adapt to your tactics - keeping pressure when you're aggressive or rushing when you're vulnerable. Hundreds of voiced lines hint at their next move, making every fight feel alive.
Full soundtrack
Selaco features an original, full-length soundtrack composed by Lawrence Steele, with over 3 hours of neon-tinged electronica spanning from high-intensity combat tracks to immersive, atmospheric soundscapes.
Adapt & Overcome
As enemies evolve and gain access to new tools, so do you. Improve your weaponry with new utility upgrades, or transform weapon behavior entirely with Weapon Kits.
Replayability
Selaco is designed with replayability in mind. Jump into Randomizer Mode to experience remixed mechanics, exclusive enemies, and fully customizable chaos. Or test your skills in Incursion Mode (coming later during Early Access), an endless survival challenge set in Deathmatch-style arenas.

I can see why people rate Selaco so highly. A great protagonist, tight controls, mostly good map design, and great graphics definitely make this a highly enjoyable experience. The development team behind Selaco is extremely talented and is definitely trying to make this game the best it can be. The only real criticism I have is the way they handled the Real Game Awards scandal when that was a thing. I highly recommend playing this game it is well made extremely fun and has a lot of charm.
TLDR: Great shooting with level design so bad that I'm almost always lost. Played this on the steam deck and out of the games of played, I'd say this is one of the more optimized for steam deck. The gunplay felt fantastic, and while the variety of guns could be boiled down to "3-4 full auto rifles and then other ones with actual variety", I'd say that just about everything served its own, unique purpose. There are definitely many moments later in the game where it felt like the devs just threw as many enemies as possible at me without leaving much room for strategy, but that's about the only major flaw with the shooting. The biggest flaw with the game as a whole, however, is easily the pacing. The game has such a massive conveyance issue with where you're supposed to go next that I was never be able to tell when I was and wasn't supposed to backtrack, unless I smashed my head against the wall a few times. Still, these problems were never *quite* bad enough that I stopped playing. The amazing shooting and the fun mix of movement and cover-shooting made for a game that I played start to finish, and left me wanting and waiting for chapter two.
Selaco has got to be one of the best purchases I've ever made for FPS games. The hard-hitting soundtrack, world-building, gunplay & gameplay is one of the best I've ever experienced and as I'm writing this review, I'm only about midway through Chapter 1 and I'm savouring every second of it. My only gripes are that visibility isn't that great, which has been addressed by the devs and they are looking to launch Chapter 2 in the future along with a revamped Chapter 1, alongside enhanced visual clarity. Selaco is more than just a GZDoom Mod, please give it a try!
Gonna be honest, this is not for me. I have played better gzdoom games that are free, such as Ashes 2063. May not look as pretty, but not looking for pretty in a boomer shooter. This is just kinda generic, and feels slow for a boomer shooter. I don't think I will play much more of it, or at all. Definitely not resonating with me. Also why is all the blood pink? Whatever. Don't care. Edit: Recommend just because a developer cared enough to respond, and I can respect that. Most would not have.
truly one of the great boomer shooter revival games. The level of detail in level design, mechanics, and easter eggs is frankly intimidating. combat is fast and brutal, and there's long quiet sections for exploration and environmental storytelling. I'll level with you - I have no idea what happened in the story. But that wasn't too big an issue.
Absolutely amazing boomer shooter and I am eagerly awaiting more content updates! Attention to detail is absurd. Weapon upgrades are so fun and I can’t believe how much time I spent on a game in this game that’s like cookie clicker which runs in the background as you play. Highly recommend to anyone who likes boomer shooters.
Most satisfying FPS game I've ever played, punchy as hell with good AI that provides a satisfying challenge.
Selaco is a super fun boomer shooter that combines elements for Doom alongside F.E.A.R such as the shotgun that reduces enemies to a chuncky mist and enemy squads that call out commands to each other. Weapons are fun and sound like they pack a real punch. Oh and there's a cookie clicker knock-off you can just find while wandering around. All-round a very fun title and worth the asking price even if its still in early access.
selaco is a great game with a variety of weapons the weapons feel great and controls are responsive, all the weapons have a good amount of upgrade, the game requires you to sometimes listen to the enemies and not get overwhelmed unless you want to loose your head
