Doesn’t work on the Steam Deck unfortunately even docked with mouse and keyboard and since that is my only way to play, I had to refund. It just kept crashing even on lowest graphics settings. I will get it again in the future. I won’t not recommend it just because I don’t have the proper computer to play it.
I own this game on xbox and its great the story line is fun but i bought it for my pc because I sometimes prefer to game on pc for lengths of time and wanted to complete the dlcs but the audio is super glitchy and so is combat its a shame honestly. When researching it, i came to realize that its a known problem since this game came out so just keep that in mind before buying.
I played this game twice and all of the dlcs. One of my personal favorite games to come back to and have an interesting time with the wildlife. I love all the small details and side tasks you can do even if there aren't any rewards. The story is also interesting especially when you get to the Clouded Forest. Small bugs and glitches here and there but they're pretty funny sometimes, only when I'm not fighting a whole camp...
Played this with my beloved boyfriend and honestly we had to convince ourselves to launch the game most of the time. The main story is mehh, maybe decent enough to get through... I guess? Everything around it gets repetitive real fast. Clearing camps turns into a chore, and the co-op is a huge disappointment. A lot of permanent progression (Clan Favors, Tarsyu Saplings, Bellsprigs, etc.) only counts for the host, which completely killed our motivation to explore. We ended up skipping upgrades because there just wasn't any fun in only one of us getting them. From the Ashes DLC is a completely different story. Better gameplay, new mechanics, smoother movement, gorgeous visuals, way more fun fights... and my gooood So'lek absolutely carries the story. We dragged ourselves through the base game for almost two months, but finished the DLC in two days because we couldn't put it down (even though it's single-player). So yeah. I can't recommend the base game unless it is heavily discounted. If you are interested at all, grab it on sale for the DLC. ^^
Stunning game, All the dlc's are worth playing aswell, a few bugs here and there, but nothing that ruins the overal feel when playing. The flying on the ikran is a bit too slow in my opinion, other than that it's pretty damn good. Would highly recommend
Brilliant game. It really does hold up and I'd highly recommend it if you love Avatar and the world it brings! A truly immersive enjoyable experience that I will admit, is def bogged down by the typical ubi-schlop, but if you can get past the RPG mechanics which admittedly make things meh- Its a REALLY good experience
So, I have 146 hours on this blue hell. 10/10 now as a baby i watched avatar 1, then grew up watching 2, and 3, its perfect to say this game is my embodiment, and the movies are top 1 for me to watch once a week on a friday night. listen. i didnt choose the na'vi life. the na'vi life chose me. and by "chose me", i mean i voluntarily spent 146 hours of my precious, finite human existence running through a bioluminescent jungle, screaming at floating rocks, and trying to pet things that absolutely wanted to eat my face for the past... i think two years since the game came out and i got it the day after i got my pay... anyway. So the good "I AM THE APEX PREDATOR" review: the climbing: if you dont feel like an absolute god when you parkour up a 300-foot floating mountain while your ikran screams in your ear, you are playing wrong. the bows: i have used guns. i have used shotguns. but nothing--and i mean NOTHING-- beats the dopamine hit of landing a weak-spot headshot from a mile away with a wooden ass bow. i am Legolas on steroids. i am a giant blue killing machine with a ponytail. the world: this is literally too pretty. i spent 40 of my 146 hours staring at grass and taking steam screenshots to post. i dont know how they did it, but they made glow-in-the-dark mushrooms look better than my future. The bad "THIS PLANT IS TRYING TO KILL ME" review: Nav mode: you know that special "na'vi senses" vision from eywa? i left that on for 80 hours, i forgot what real colors looked like. stealth: i am 12 feet tall. i am blue. i glow in the dark. and yet, i am supposed to be a "stealth assassin". the RDA soldiers are clearly blind because i literally jump on their metal roofs and they dont hear me. i love it, but it makes no sense. the final boss: it was... okay? i didnt spend 146 hours for a cutscene that lasts 3 minutes. i wanted to wrestle the bukowsky in the mud! i had health packs! PLEASE. the ugly (my soul): i completed the game. i found every single flora. i freed every single base. i completed the DLCs and stared into the abyss of the "map screen" until i saw 100% completion. now i have nothing left. no more RDA to shoot. no more fruit to pick. just... silence. verdict: if you want a game that makes you feel like an invincible, nature-loving, alien cat-person who can kill a helicopter with a stick, BUY IT. and try not to pollute earth too. 10/10 - would get blue again. <3
Bought this game strictly to play co-op. but the game restricts the guest player from doing a lot of stuff. When you're calling a game co-op you need to be able to do everything together or else it's just stupid.
I bought this game fully well understanding that it is basically Far Cry with a Pandora reskin, and after 100 minutes of playtime would say that is very accurate. I ultimately ended up refunding the game not because of this formula, but rather because of two things. The first thing is the campy, almost lifeless story that you're subjected to. I felt like the story writers were constantly trying to pander to the idea of "human bad" and "alien good", which, to an extent, is an issue with the main story of Avatar, as well. The characters and interactions felt super forced, and the male voicelines for your character definitely give it a very cringey anime-style narration on the top. The second thing was how clunky, stiff, and unrealistic the gameplay was. I personally could get past the abysmal story if the gameplay was solid and fluid, but this was not the case. Jumping and sliding seemed nice, until my momentum carried me up in elevation for many meters, breaking any sense of realistic physics. The gunplay/combat was extremely clunky with the provided aiming reticles, and the artificially inflated health bars of the most basic enemies ruined all level of immersion I attempted to retain. (Shooting an exposed human in a mech with a 6ft long arrow should instantly kill him. Wtf, Ubisoft?) I wanted to get as far as unlocking my Ikran and trying out exploring the map and just being a Na'vi, but as I was rounding my 2-hour mark, I realized how much fun I just wasn't having, playing this game. If you can get past the story, the clunkiness, and the lack of anything realistic, it might be fun; but it certainly wasn't fun enough for me to keep the game in my library.
Feels like Far Cry: Blue Edition—but without the fun. The story is flat, the characters barely register, and the dialogue tries way too hard. Movement and combat both feel stiff, with physics that break immersion every few minutes and enemies that soak up damage like sponges. I wanted to stick around long enough to fly a Ikran but would have passed the refund window and before that the game just never became enjoyable. Refunded.
