About
Developed by Nerdook (Reverse Crawl, Vertical Drop Heroes), Monster Slayers is a complete reimagining of the free web-based hit of the same name, which has been played over 4 million times on gaming portal, Kongregate.
A rogue-like deck-building RPG adventure (and one of the very few released BEFORE Slay the Spire), Monster Slayers uses an innovative card-based battle system and lets you customize a deck to suit your play style. Create a new hero to join the Monster Slayers Guild and choose your path through the perilous Northern Valley as you follow your quest to defeat the legendary Harbinger and become a true Monster Slayer.

Battle undead goblins, lion outlaws, mighty dragons and other monstrous foes using a unique card-based combat system
Strategically shape your deck as you acquire new cards from merchants, treasure chests, and allies
Collect fame from each run to unlock new abilities that can be used by future heroes
Every playthrough is different: levels, enemy encounters and loot are randomly generated

Choose from six different classes: Rogue, Ranger, Knight, Barbarian, Cleric, Wizard
Recruit companions to join you on your quest and make use of their special abilities
Equip your hero with stat-boosting loot to improve the chances of victory

Fight for your place at the top of the Monster Slayers leaderboards
Inspired by the much-loved deck-building RPG, Dream Quest, created by Peter Whalen (Hearthstone)

its alot of fun :)
Foundational to the Genre Often overlooked; Monster Slayers is an important piece of the Roguelike Deckbuilder genre history. One of the earlier examples in the genre, many of the fundamental concepts are both present and well executed. Moreover, the core gameplay loop, meta unlock/upgrade progression and artistic style are equally solid making it a must play title if you appreciate the genre. The game has 2 difficulty settings with an expanded challenge hurdle in the harder mode make the game both approachable but also rewarding to play over and over. Furthermore, a full run attempt (to the end boss) feels like exactly the right amount of time investment. I only have a few minor gripes, which are as follows: Limited deck build variety between characters, a handful of events you cannot revisit at a later time on the map, the unusual way cards that have been played during a turn don't immediately go to the discard pile and that you cannot save during the middle of a long survival run. Overall, any card battler enthusiast cannot go wrong giving Monster Slayers a try.
Pretty interesting rogue-like game with cards. You draw cards, use cards, and attack the enemy. You get equipment from merch and there is only so many maps you play and slowly the enemies get harder and harder. It's pretty basic in concept, but addicting in a way. Thing is, I am only four hours in and I am already experiencing repetition so there is only so much I can endure before I say "NAH" and then time to move on to the next game.
this game is great the original slay the spire type of game . althought both games are great!!! nerdook has brought so many games to so many people for free on sites like kongregate . he is a legendary game developer. can't wait to see what he does next!
i like it alot fast and charming looking :)
Clunky, slow. So many things to click and read without up ramping.
Going to just say this game is my "Let some youtube play while i enjoy a quick game" and has been for quite a while but while i like to LOOK of the new stuff just posted, the game keeps crashing and thats NEVER happened before. So, the only real addition the new update has done is crashes and i am rather frustrated. Hopefully it gets fixed. Edit: After an update to THIS update, everything is back to normal and i am enjoying the game once again. Awesome. Recommended before but now with no hesitation. So glad.
Most of the game is mid The final boss is impossible to beat most of the time no matter what you do I'd be ashamed of myself knowing there will be players who want to get all the achievements and I made the boss that has to be defeated multiple times with different classes artificially difficult and impossible to beat. I legit feel second hand embarrassment thinking how pathetic and lazy the dude responsible for balancing the harbringer is. Luckily I got this shi for like 20 cents off some website with steam keys. I'd be so butthurt if I had paid anything more than that.
