You just have to ignore the optics... which maybe is easy for me growing up with games in the 90s and being a fan of early paradox games which were basically a map. A lot of the systems behind are great extensions to what I would call the tired civ forumla. It is great to see that someone dared to challange a lot of the benchmark ways to do stuff in this kind of games. I think the basically "manapoints" and the management based on how you develop your nation over time, open up especially great strategies in multiplayer. The field upgrade system and chains with internal trade to keep production lines up is hands down the best solution in any such game, and we can already see civ 7 copy some of it in the trailers. The fighting system is ugly and time consuming but actually brings some tactical choice to troop types beyond, best attack stat good biggest stack win. For a small studio this is a good effort, and while the dlcs don´t add giant amount of content, they strengthen the game exactly where its needed. The worst issue was that it released without simultanius multiplayer and even now that part desyncs a lot when you go up to 4+ humans. Which is a shame and hopefully the next thing that gets improved. Still enough in the patches is going in the correct direction for me to give this one a thumbs up by now.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

fun
Das bessere CIV
great game and even better expansion.
First of all, this game is fun to play and if you enjoy the genre and you want to play something else than civ you will probably have a great time. I also still have hope the devs get the chance to work on this game more. It could really become a strong compatitor to civ eventhough it is kind of a strech. Why am I giving a thumbs down then? You can see soo much potential is being wasted with this game. The idea of having different eras to experience is such a fun and awesome idea and it gives the game a great replayability. But sadly the experience is also quite shallow. I finished my first game and the last age for me was just clicking the next turn button until I had my colony ship build and won the game. Also the dlc policy from paradox strikes again. The so called nomad age you can buy as a dlc is a joke. I dont belive the average player spends more than 4 turns in this age and you have to pay for it! But all it basically gives you is the opportunity to decide where you want to place your first city. Something which is normal in every civ game.
Definitely we needed a different 4x game to expand and improve the genre. Millennia brings great mechanics and immersive ages to play one more turn like civ. Games like Old World and Millenia show to everyone that the 4x genre have great options beyond Civ.
The game itself is decent, although there is a gamebreaking bug. The tooltips are in such small lettering, that it's unreadable. I'm using a tv screen, but even then, I have to stand up close to see what the tooltips say. So unless they fix that bug, or someone makes a mod, this game is unplayable for now.
