Before I played Millennia i had a small wee wee, no friends, no girlfriend, depression and absolutely no will to live. None of these things have changed, but the game is pretty good.
This is a hard one to recommend because I don't think it is for everyone. It does some things (such as ages) better than any other 4X games. Other parts (such as diplomacy) seem to be under-developed. One bit of warning. Don't be fooled by the graphics. I recommend having a good PC for this game. Each age tries to add new mechanics and there are 9 total ages. That means that by age 9 you have a pretty complex game with lots of content going. I started seeing performance issues at around age 8 and my PC exceeds the recommendations for this game.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

First of all I want to say that I really like Millennia. It does scratch that itch of waiting for Civ7. There are a couple of places the improvements could be done but overall it offers a good and interesting experience. What I love about the game: - Variant, Crisis, Normal, and Victory ages are great to allow for different strategies and offer different opportunities and challenges every game, - Production chains make the game more interesting and allow for customisation of cities to focus on the strengths of the resources within the city borders, - National spirits - again allow for the different customisation and make every game feel slightly different. - Combat - I like the growing armies through the ages, I think there is a nice balance between the single unit and the stack, so the screen is neither full of soldiers or stacks of doom What can be improved: - In the building section I would like to see some filter function for different resources to reduce the number of icons on the screen and allow for easier construction of specific chains, - Towns could be more customisable, maybe give us ability to build some buildings further enhancing their role, - Victory screen - not really very rewarding. I would like to see an option to view a progress story with the most important events highlighted. I really like these screens in Civ when you can watch your empire grow through years after you win (or lose) the game, - New customisation options when creating a new game to increase/decrease a pace, e.g. allow for less or more technologies needed to advance to the next age. Separate adjustments to criteria to trigger special ages to make it easier/harder to obtain them, - I am missing a good and interesting future era with futuristic units beyond Age 10, I know the Age of Archangels has some but I would like to see them going beyond that, - City states need improvement, maybe auto upgrade their defences to the Age the world is in so they offer some challenge as at the moment they just sit there waiting to be conquered. Offer some benefits from leaving them unharmed so it sometimes more useful to trade with them rather then defeating them. Overall I would rate this game as a solid 7/10 with the potential to go higher once more DLC roll out and some improvements are implemented.
Genuinely the best Civ-like released in the last few years. Mechanically, it is very satisfying, and everything just fits together. You can focus your nation in a variety of ways, and playing tall is more viable than in any other Civ-like except for Civ 5. The balance could still use a bit of tweaking, but it's much better than it was at release. The biggest downside is the presentation. The graphics are serviceable, but nothing fancy. The combat system is borderline ugly. The other nations have no leaders or anything, and are simply represented by a text box. There is none of the pizzazz you get in Civ, or even in Humankind or Ara: History Untold. But if you are tired of Civ-likes that put more focus on presentation than on the actual meat of the game, then Millennia is your best bet.
F*** CIV6,7,8,9,10. I´m out finally!
could have been a great game, only an empty shell before they dipped out unfortunately
A civ like game that went in its own direction and turned out really good. It gives you more variety on how to play and also allows you to customize your nation how you want while playing it. Instead of playing in a certain style, you decide how to evolve and play
never buy paradox games anymore, abandomed cashgrab and run
