Amazing game, very different from MW5:Mercs but not a bad thing by any means...Much more story-driven, interesting characters and very good story so far, really like the Clans. Took me a while to pick it up because I'm more fond of the sandboxy nature of MW5, but it ends up grabbing you. Easy recommend for any mechwarrior fans or mech games in general
This game has TEEERRIBLE voice acting. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ did they just take random people off the street and give them a mic? All the characters sound flat as a board and their deliveries sound like they're reading off an index card while giving a presentation in high school. All the fights are mid to close range, around 500 meters, so the longer range weapons are kinda pointless save for 1 or 2 missions. medium and small pulse lasers just out dps everything else and their short range just isn't an issue cus of the map design. The amount of enemies you have to fight makes lighter mechs completely useless past the first few missions because they don't have the HP pool to survive long engagements like these. Your AI teammates are kinda worthless because they just stand around not firing most of the time so you might as well just slap the biggest gun you have for them so they actually do some damaage on the occasion that they DO fire. Enemy AI just charge at you mindlessly regardless of mech type so again, just bring small and medium pulse lasers. Sometimes, the enemy AI just bugs out and they stand still. This game isn't bad if all you want to do is shoot mechs all day but it's very flat and low effort to be honest.

Two Steps Forward, One Step Back - 6.5/10, buy on sale. Two Steps Forward: - Greatly improved story with cutscenes - Characters that have some level of personality - Overall presentation (the cutscenes and pre-mission sand table briefs are great) - Improved sound effects, such as weapon audio. Voice-over audio seems inconsistent. - Improved weapon visual effects and environments - BattleGrid Overview allows better control of AI friendlies, and overview of their status. - Scan mode gives you something to do while you plod around between waves... - Mission design is somewhat improving, with "bosses" and side objectives to break things up. One Step Back: - Performance is not very good when there are several friendly and enemy entities, with noticeable FPS drops. - Enemy AI will still target whichever of your units is doing the most damage at any given time, meaning they will typically be targeting you. The enemy AI simply runs straight at your lance, not utilizing any cover or torso twisting, and disregarding your tonnage or loadout versus theirs. - Friendly AI still will not utilize cover or torso twisting. They will stay in formation with you and be so occupied with following you around that they will barely fire their weapons. If you tell them to breakaway and guard a location, they will stand at that exact point on the ground and not utilize any nearby cover. - Mission design is still a corridor horde shooter that throws waves of mechs at you, many that are the chassis variants that barely mount any weapons or challenge. - Still no reason to keep lighter mech tonnages at higher difficulty missions. Therefore there is no point dealing with the "chassis upgrades" menu or becoming attached to lighter mechs. What happened to the raid/stealth mission type that favored light mechs? - 2/6 of your pilot skills are useless (turn speed and melee damage?) - The mech lab UI is overly complex, with many redundant menus and currencies. - HUD still feels like a 2D sticker pasted over my screen, and a step-back from Mercs or many MW5 Mercs Mods. The weapon group table cannot be minimized. They don't make any use of the screens inside any of the mech interiors. I'm told the DLCs fix many of these issues, but this review is for the base game. Perhaps they had to make concessions for console. The core gameplay loop and mech customization are still great, but I feel like these games can be so much more when it comes to the mech simulation aspect of things.

Game RIPS! Giver er' a try. Give into the Master Blastery of the Clan mechs, its fun!
Amazing work by the developers! It's so good to see the bit of Battletech revival. Do you like big mechs and blowing stuff up, then this game is for you. Good story, lots of diverse mechs and various weapons to use, good balancing, and just plain fun!
It's a MW5 game with some tweaks. Weird with scan mode, but I was handling it. SADLY, I bought this as a gift for a friend, and his machine can't handle it, so we're returning it. I AM pissed that I had no chance to be a Star Captain at my Trial of Position. Did NOT like being railroaded to lose versus the third mech.
Really great game.
Generally good storylines for fans of Battletech with some key characters involved. Imersive for fans of the books and mech games. Almost felt lik eplaying through extra books from the Blood of Kerensky trilogies and similar. Good gameplay although still too many minor vehicle/mech spawnings for my liking (I'd prefer less minor spawnings butmore challenge per opponent).
