About
Modern Tactical Action:
Operation Athena delivers a modern take on classic tactical shooters with a stronger action edge. It’s built around coordinated squad pushes and constant pressure, while still rewarding smart movement, positioning, and teamwork over pure speed.
Bold and Dynamic AI:
Enemy forces don’t just stand and shoot—they flank, reposition, and react to sound dynamically. AI spawns are directed through a level-specific spawn director, meaning every map has unique and thematically appropriate enemies. Expect enemies to fall back, flank, and counterattack as a unit every mission.
Immersive and Impactful Gunplay:
Every weapon has its own feel, with tuned recoil, penetration, and punchy feedback. Suppressors support quieter approaches, while a range of optic options lets you tailor your rifle for close-quarters fights or longer engagements. Gunplay is smooth, responsive, and built to keep firefights intense without feeling arcade-fast.
Choose your role wisely: Each class has unique gear and/or abilities that push teamwork to the forefront. Team coordination is essential for mission success.

The Team Leader embodies command, guiding the squad and keeping the mission on track. When the odds turn grim, he can call in one reinforcement over the radio to bring fresh strength into the fight.
The Medic is responsible for providing medical support to injured teammates and ensuring the squad's survivability during combat engagements. The Medic will utilize equipment to render aid to injured team members.
The Support Gunner specializes in providing suppressive fire and firepower support to the team. The Support Gunner will carry additional ammunition to reinforce the team.
The Breacher is tasked with gaining entry into fortified or barricaded enemy positions. The Breacher will utilize a breaching shotgun and will also be equipped with additional explosives.

Elimination Game Mode (Terrorist Hunt):
A classic tactical shooter staple—clear the map of all hostiles. Every encounter plays differently thanks to dynamic AI spawning and enemy behaviors.
Hostage Rescue Game Mode:
Infiltrate, secure, and extract. Rescue hostages from fortified enemy positions, balancing speed and caution while navigating the risks of friendly fire and unexpected resistance.
Bomb Threat Game Mode:
Find and defuse planted explosives before time runs out. Work with your team to clear rooms, defuse the explosives, and navigate through challenging and dynamic enemy AI.
RAID Game Mode:
Locate and extract high-value crates using gathered intel while enemy reinforcements assault you. Your squad must recover every target and fight your way out together, creating a tense, objective-driven experience that pressures you unlike any other mode in Operation Athena.
From villas and galleries to sand-swept compounds and urban high-rises, missions unfold across varied international locations. Each map brings unique tactical opportunities with strategically built level design, interactive lighting, and dynamic enemy encounters.
Your loadout evolves with an ever-expanding selection of weapons.
Operation Athena equips you with a focused selection of firearms built for every situation. From close-quarters SMGs to precision rifles and high-capacity support weapons, each gun is designed to fill a distinct role and keep your squad mission-ready.

Not worth it yet. Not sure why 100% of reviews are positive, because of course the game is "promising", but it's not far enough into the development to warrant a purchase yet. Take the positive reviews with a grain of salt, they seem to be in close/friendly contact with the developer(s). Performance is terrible, controls & gunplay feels a bit janky and the AI seems a bit dumb. Not the worst i've seen, but i saw a review saying it "feels like you're playing against other real players" and after seeing it for myself that just sets off alarm bells tbh.. Real players don't stand in the middle of a hallway nearly clipping into eachother while shooting with poor accuracy. Promising, but that's not worth your money yet unless you really want to support the devs
Asset flip, don't bother. I'm all for supporting Early Access titles. But this isn't early access. It's a cash grab. They described the game as being a modern version of Rainbow Six, and yet on single player you don't go in with a team of bots that you outfit and control through commands. Nope, just you. On your own, like a million other FPS games. Graphics look fine, but these days it's pretty hard to get this one wrong. There's no fun to be found here and after 15 minutes I was actually bored. -Refunded
Cookie Cutter cash grab - Do not waste your money on this! Where do I begin. The positive reviews and game description are misleading. This game is not tactical or realistic at all, it's a poorly executed arcade shooter with elementary mechanics. I'm tired of seeing shooters like this portray themselves as "modern" spiritual successors to games we love, to get us to buy them. 1. A bunch of bugs and broken buttons. This game should not have been released in its current state. The entire game play loop consist of fighting poorly scripted AI that follow the same patterns over and over again. The AI also feel like they have an aim bot or something. Its definitely an arcade game and nothing about the development says modern, it all feels very amateur. 2. Everything in the game, from levels, to characters, to weapons, feel cookie cutter. There's nothing about this game visually that separates it from the dozens out there with the same aesthetic that are built on UE5. The art feels unoriginal and I wouldn't be surprised if it was bought from the UE marketplace. 3. The price tag is overpriced and is a cashgrab attempt imo. This is definitely not the worst game I've seen but its pretty close. The discounted rate even I would say of $14.99 that I bought it as is still way too much for the limited and generic content offered. I would say $4.99 or even free would be more suitable for an early access game like this. Its so low effort, broken, repetitive, and boring, that there's no way this could be worth $25. 4. I bought this game hoping I would get an experience of the classics like Rainbow six, based on the description of the project, and the trailers, it looked promising. But wow was I disappointed. There's almost nothing to do in the game. The levels feel like a distraction from the reality of the poor gameplay. 5. The game is far from being playable. Aside from the generic visuals which are decent and yet sadly cookie cutter, the mechanics, weapon sway, recoil, effects, are all poorly executed. The game 'looks'' alright, but game play wise it is boring and not fun. I lost all interest in 10 minutes, but played another 20 minutes to explore my options. There's literally nothing to do for $25 except run around empty maps and get killed by poorly made AI with Aimbot. 6. There's no one online to play with, SP is broken so I have to host a mp game to play by myself. I would at least like to play with others but no one is playing this game and its obvious why. Why play this broken game when we can just go play good working games that aren't cash crabs. 7. A lot of these positive reviews don't make any sense. The ai don't feel like "real players", the game is not tactical, or realistic. Based on the price charge of $25 I gotta stress that this looks and feels like a get-rich cash grab attempt by the developers. I feel like these positive reviews are sponsored by the devs or something because they're just gaslighting us with the same narrative and talking points about the game so that we buy it. 8. Last and funniest point. I tried to throw a grenade through a window to flashbang the AI. The grenade bounced off the window straight into my face and blinded me before I got killed by the AI. Im not sure about you guys but last I checked most buildings irl are not equipped with impact resistant windows. Throwing any kind of grenade at full force should definitely break a window and not bounce back like a tennace ball at our faces.
JAN 10, 2025: Quick update: We are a few weeks into the game now, there have been several patches already by the devs and they are working on the game every week. Lots of bugs fixed and content introduced such as end of round stats and a lot more. Patch notes are on the Discord of regular updates as well as here on Steam. DEC 4, 2024: Early Access Review! Well, right out of the gate the game gives old school vibes. By old school I mean Rainbow Six, Rainbow Six Rogue Spear, Rainbow Six 3 and Rainbow Six Vegas. With a hint of old school Ghost Recon as well. Wouldn't you know it, the devs say they are directly inspired by those games. Something that is rare to see in games these days. Most people go for a more Swat 4 (Ready or Not/Zero Hour) kind of vibe instead. Which is great fun too mind you. So this game already lies somewhere between old school R6, Ghost Recon, Ground Branch, Zero Hour and Ready or Not. If you are a fan of those games you will probably like this game. Take into consideration that it is EARLY ACCESS with many improvements to come from map details, weapons, loadouts and customization and more. So it can only get better from here. It has fluid lean posture and also ability to open doors slowly with mouse wheel, or kick them open. The Terrorist AI are actually difficult and don't just stand there all the time like mindless drones. There is much work to be done, but its already well worth the money to play and enjoy with friends. As I understand it, PVP will come in the future but the focus right now is COOP and making it better with single player missions and more. You can already host your own listening server in game that people can join or your Steam friends can join privately. Up to 4 players for now but hopefully 8 soon. So far there are 7 maps already. Each with a unique setting. Several classes and game modes are available already too such as Hostage Rescue, Bomb Defusal and classic Terrorist Hunt. I think the game has promise so long as the dev's stick with it and more importantly LISTEN to the community ideas. That's a downfall of many games when devs get out of touch with the playerbases' desires. I will update this review in a few months with ongoing progress.
Kidding? You want 25 euro a full price for what exactly? Poor graphics and no anything modification? Do your job first, prepare a decent game and then ask people to pay for it. Good luck will check later ...
not even close to ready and massively overpriced. The shotgun sight is a broken black mesh that blocks your screen. reloads look like something out of a ps1 game. This is one of those tactical shovelware games where you can tell more work went into the HQ class and mission selection area that could and should probably just be replaced with a menu, than any kind of gameplay system. If you told me this was a satire of ground branch my only complaint would be that its massively MASSIVELY overpriced.
Visual are fine, nothing really impressive. There is little content for now for the price. I would not say the ai is any better than other milsim on the market. It either gets stuck lagging behind open doors, stays still when in front of you or headshots you through windows right after you spawn 50m away. It has potential, but needs a lot of work to be worth it.
Good slow strategic CQB which reminds me of Ghost Recon with very nice graphics with Lumen and realistic reflections if you have a RTX card. I's ealy access so some features haven't been implemented like weapon customisation but I hope it will come in the future and will keep an eye out for the development of the game. Current rating Graphics 9/10 Sound 7/10 Gameplay 9/10 Overall 8.3
Updates are rollin rollin rollin WHAT! nah but all jokes aside, the progress this game has made is leaps and bounds from where it started. The devs , along with the community are very engaging. The devs are really good with answering questions and concerns, shows progression with ongoing updates in the works and so forth. All in all I am saying, the game is great. The devs are even greater. I am very excited to see where this game goes
Its alright, still a bit clunky. Can not pick weapons from downed bots and in your loadout is not enough. For solo mode it could use some ai team mates, going in by your self is not fun. Multiplayer i didn't manage to test out as there is nobody online.
