I honestly dived into the game based on the original trilogy alone, without knowing anything about the development cycle, controversies, and with no previous extraction shooter experience. This game has been my main source of social interaction with new and old friends, and my first online game since almost 2005. I love the setting, pace and stakes involved in each run. The gunplay and general gameplay is like no other title in a long time. I definitely recommend it, as long as you stay away from the negativity of the discourse that is going on since launch. It can get pretty wild to see such hate for an interesting project, or to see that most detractors were waiting for the same format in a different flavor. Yes, it is very hard, does not hold your hand, and sometimes it can get frustrating when facing tougher players than you, but if you make it through a few hours I think the game will finally be able to communicate to you what it is and what is expected of you when playing it. If you are still on the fence, wait for a discount or free week and try it out!
Pretty fun, runs smooth on my pc
Gunplay very good and the game is very atmospheric. I am not a huge fan of the wipe system, 3 month for an only weekend solo player just not enough. Item icons are frustrating, still have no idea what attachment or implant is good just pick them up by rarity. Loot room puzzles and key rooms i thing overcomplicated. You have to watch a bunch of youtube vids to figure out what you have to do. Overall it is a fun game but far less rewarding and way more punishing then used to be.
Great game. Will be even better over time
Free round trip to the lose everything factory
This is a masterpiece: through and through. I have two hundred plus hours on PS5 and I bought it again just to experience it on my Ultra Wide monitor (gorgeous with OLED btw). It's one of the few multiplayer games out there that consistently respects you as a player. The more you play, the more it opens up it's fascinating world to you. The more hours you sink it, the better loot you'll come across. Maps like Outpost and Cryo Archive are works of genius. The OST I listen to on repeat. The new season 2: night marsh is a sick experience and the more this game is updated somehow the more I am loving it! I've got four hundred hours of Destiny 2. But whereas there I had to stomach a few horrid dlcs, Marathon is just pure peak. The gameplay has never been tighter for Bungie. The world never more realized. If this ever goes offline, that'll be a disservice of the highest accord - More and more people need to give this a shot. I'm sick of the team deathmatch annual military shooters. Here : finally my brain is both always engaged and stimulated. While the challenge scale will be too much for many casual players, it is worth it's price of admission and more. With additions like PVE and even sometimes sponsored kit only runs. There's always a way to get ahead. Thank God for Marathon - and when escape makes me god, I'll thank it again. ;)
Phenomenal atmosphere and art style. This game definitely has a learning curve, but becomes very satisfying once you get a grasp.
