Lucid Nina

This is a recommendation with a lot of asterisks. This is a short surrealist-bent RPG Maker horror—the whole thing can be done in two hours, and probably less if you don't encounter some of the problems I had that I'll mention in the spoilery section below—and while that description can probably be swung at a lot of games on Steam and beyond, I think Lucid Nina has a distinctive enough voice to both keep it memorable and fun. It's -really- light on game play though, largely a guided tour through its story more than anything, so if that isn't your cup of tea, this probably isn't for you. I love me a good dreamscape though, and Lucid Nina has quite a few that it strings together well. The biggest complaints I have for the game are here: *There's a bug in the [spoiler]avoiding-the-parents[/spoiler] section where, if you get caught, the [spoiler]parents[/spoiler] may not load properly in the next run through. This isn't that big of a deal because you can just get caught again and they'll probably load fine in the next attempt, but it is a little annoying because it's one of the few actual "game" parts of the game and, well, it has a big bug in it that just wastes your time. *There's a game breaking bug at the end of the game that can occur [spoiler]when you compile Lucy's files[/spoiler] that'll force you to restart the game. This happened to me only once, mercifully. *Last but most importantly, whoever did the proof reading just didn't do a very good job. There's more than a few grammar/punctuation issues, particularly at the end of the game [spoiler]in the doctor's office.[/spoiler] It's very close to a "not recommend" because of those issues, but honestly, I had a lot of fun with the game and it got me to laugh out loud more than a few times with some of the intentional absurdity along the way. It's really enjoyable if you can ignore those few foibles above. Enjoyable enough, in fact, that I'm eager to see more from the dev.
