Estimated reading time: 1 minute "Sapper boom!" is baby's first Match 3 game enclosed in a visual novel shell, without actually having anything to do with a visual novel. The matching mechanics are extremely rudimentary: there are no power-ups or special tiles resulted from matching more than 3 tiles, no hints, and dragging the tiles in order to make a match does not work; instead one needs to click them and there's no indication of the tile selected. When you do a match-3, the tiles fall / disappear sequentially, it's pretty much like watching the programming think about what to do step by step. In order to obtain the achievements, all you have to do is to patiently wait for the counter to go from 120 seconds down to 0, until the time allocated for the current Match 3 game runs out. The score doesn't matter, achievements trigger with 0 score too, and you even get a "Good job!" message for your performance. Rinse and repeat 200 times to get your hundo and don't forget to save / load each game on each session, otherwise the achievement progress is lost. Pretty easy, but I would still advise staying away from this game, unless paying a dollar (without discount) for some easy idle achievements is a good deal for you. Otherwise, not even the heroic music can make up for how low effort this game is.
"Sapper": 1. One who saps; specifically, one who is employed in working at saps, building and repairing fortifications, and the like. Often known as a combat engineer or military engineer. 2. (Britain, colloquial) An officer or private of the Royal Engineers. I am no English native speaker (I have also a big headache due to the extremely cold temperatures here in Northern Italy) and I really didn't know anything about "sapper" meaning "officer" or "private". In this case, anyways, we're talking about sappers who work in mine fields and war zone, removing the mines as the name says. The Italian translation is "geniere" though (can you relate it to words like "engineering"? =P), since "zappatore" (which has the same etymology by the way) means someone who literally digs the ground, especially for agricultural purposes.. This game by the way is a really really minimalistic match-3 puzzle, and I think that.. we saw too many match-3 games these years. I mean, in order to stand out, such a game should employ something new and interesting.. new mechanics, new game modes, bonuses, upgrades, a good backstory, minigames.. And this thing has nothing of them, apart from some achievements unlocking just by idling (it needs something like 7 or 8 hours to be completed). There are just simple match-3 fields, each one taking 2-3 minutes to be completed, and you can't even drag the tiles - you have to manually click on the bombs of the same color to swap them. It really looks like something that has been developed within ten minutes by a bored guy. Needless to say, the graphics are so bad that don't even need explanations if you take a quick peek at the Steam store page.. So all in all we really weren't in need of another crappy match-3 game, there are tons of them and they're often pretty good but this one really hasn't a single positive feature so I'd never recommend it to anyone.
Very poorly executed Match 3 game enclosed in a fake story (here is the what's basically the only dialog: "clear more field?" "good job, let's clear more field?"). As for the achievements, you get one achievement per completed minigame (one minigame lasts 2 whole minutes, I don't know what's the minimal score in order to get the achievement, but one thing's certain: you can't idle it, it will just restart the puzzle forever). So I suppose you could get all achievements in a bit more than 3 very, very, very boring hours.
Bad game game EZ to get all achievements 100% just press Tab when you start 1st lvl then u can leave the game running the background and it will automatically skip to the next level after the two-minute time, u need at least around 7 hours.

Warning: Asset Flip!
"Sapper boom!" is an asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The Russian asset flipper stole a basic template for a Ren'py visual novel minigame and published it on Steam as if it was a full game, taking the work of others and trying to scam people into paying them money for a free Ren'py match-3 minigame they didn't even make themselves. 13-lab/azimuth team have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. One example of 13-lab/azimuth team doing this is Dungeons of the dead, which is really the "2D Roguelike Tutorial" asset, written by the actual developers, Unity Technologies. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features somewhat lazy, simplistic 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just point and click stuff like a browser/Flash game. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 6 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. "Sapper boom!" is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.
You would think you can't mess up something as simple as a match-3 game, but the developers of this one proved the world otherwise as this is a laggy barebones match-3 game.
Poor version of Match-3! Nice for Cheevo-Hunters, 100% with idling! Easy Achievements, 100% / /7h.
