Explore a haunting, punishing island in this stylized 2D action RPG. Salt and Sanctuary combines fast and brutal 2D combat with richly developed RPG mechanics in a cursed realm of forgotten cities, blood-soaked dungeons, and desecrated monuments.

Thank you for making this Couch Co-Op. My wife and I are having an absolute blast! I'm honestly not the biggest fan of Soul-like games, but idk, something about this one has just been a real joy to play.
Muito sal, pouco santuário. 10/10
13小時半通關了 黑魂改成2D版 整體來說還不錯 就是挺費眼睛 順便一提還能一機雙人
i just got this on summer sale to play with my cousin because he would always rant at me about how much he loved the game when he played it years ago and how he wanted to play it again ooooohhh so bad (guilt trip, he just wanted me to buy it for him :)). ...and so we played it and... i loved it. its literally like dark souls 2 2D not even kidding. im not even a fan of 2D platformers and i like this. this is the first 2D game iv played since the old nintendo stuff that i played years ago. yeah all around an amazing experience the bosses are good the gear is plentiful and you can make some pretty awesome builds the combat is smooth and the soundtracks are great. i would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys souls-like combat and 2D platforming (hollow knight players im looking at you). 10/10 we're going to play the sequel next and i really hope it holds up to this one because this is some great stuff!
Man it's hard to find the words to describe this game but there's nothing else like it. These people really went "2D hand drawn dark souls" and then did it. Honestly, this game feels more like the original Dark Souls than Dark Souls 2, 3, or 4. There is just something about the graphics, music, and story that create an atmosphere worth experiencing. Only reason I haven't played more and beat it is because if you don't wanna sit down and beat it in a few afternoons, the map becomes a maze and it can be hard to keep track of where you're going and what you're supposed to do
I first played Salt and Sanctuary back in 2024. A couple of years later, I came back to replay it from scratch, got 100% achievements in about 9 hours, and decided to beat the whole game armorless just to give myself an extra challenge. Even after all these years, I can confidently say it's still a masterpiece.
Combat
The combat is easily one of the biggest reasons I love this game. There are so many different weapons, builds, and playstyles to experiment with, the movesets are satisfying, and every boss feels unique. I found this playthrough pretty easy and beat most bosses on my 1st try, but that's mainly because I had already played it before. If it's your first Souls-like, expect a challenge. If you're already familiar with the genre, I think you'll really appreciate how well the combat and boss design hold up.
World Design
The interconnected world is one of my favorite things about the game. It reminds me a lot of Dark Souls, and exploring it never gets old. Finding shortcuts, unlocking new Brands, and coming back to old areas always feels rewarding. The atmosphere is incredible, every area feels unique, and the amount of detail packed into the world is something I appreciated even more on my replay.
Replayability
Replayability is another huge strength. Different builds, weapon types, and challenge runs give you plenty of reasons to come back. I decided to replay the whole game armorless just for fun, and it ended up being one of my favorite playthroughs. My favorite fight was the final boss. It was easily the hardest and most satisfying fight in the game.
Final Thoughts
If I had to criticize anything, it'd be the story and the soundtrack. They're not bad, but they're not particularly memorable. Other than that, I genuinely don't have much to complain about. Overall, replaying this game years later only reminded me why it's one of my favorite Souls-likes. If you've never played a Souls-like before, I think this is a great place to start. If you're already a fan of the genre, it's a game you shouldn't miss. It's absolutely worth playing at least once.
Jogo bom para se jogar caso você more em Israel, caso contrário não recomendo.
NG+ Witch of the Lake should be considered a war crime. Good thing I like war crimes.
Solid combat with dozens of weapons/spells. It can be intimidatingly large for a first playthrough, but making progress is rewarding and the replayability is just as high as any other souls-like.
2d dark souls 2 with all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that game comes with. ng+ made me pee my pants that ♥♥♥♥ is horrendous
