Now that the comfiest game ever has been made, it's all downhill from here... This follows the standard Gemdrops formula of being a 20-30 minute anime episode in VR with barely any interaction, only 2 or 3 characters and only 1 environment while selling for $25 (or $20 in the case of this game). It's honestly not a great formula. There's a lot of missed opportunity for camp-based interactivity like setting up a tent, making a fire, cooking some food, etc. They like releasing on all platforms including mobile, Switch, etc, though, so it's unlikely they'll start improving upon the formula any time soon. It's also not a lot of content for $20-25 so it's probably best to wait for a deep discount or just watch it on YouTube. That said, it is great having a VR game that features Yuru Camp, one of my all-time favorite anime, so I'm kind of forced to recommend it. It was fun hanging out with Nadeshiko in VR. <3
The game is very similar to "Lake Motosu". The game's length is about 40-50 minutes. The controls are the same for both games, what you see is what you get and you can only interact with things by looking at them. If it helps: "Fumoto Campsite" only has one screen (unlike "Lake Motosu" where you could move to one other screen) but due to the dog (and a bit of movement from Nadeshiko) it feels less static than "Lake Motosu". The game looks extremely cute and colorful, but the price is still too high. It would be nice to have Steam trading cards <3
You might like this game. It has the characters of the anime, and if the anime was too fast paced this game only advances when you want it to. You can sit and watch the mountain for as long as you want. And the characters are cute. There is no interactivity. You can't move your hands. You can't move your POV very much, you are trapped in a small bounding box. The only thing you can do is choose when to activate the next line of dialog (chosen by aiming your head at an icon for long enough). You can watch Shimarin's hands pet the dog, but they aren't tracked to your own at all so it doesn't feel like you are her. You can take pictures with an in-game camera, but the frame isn't chosen by you, it selects from a few pre-baked shots.
Incredibly overpriced for what it is, which is a tiny, tiny pleasant slice of life. The one thing I was hoping to get out of the game was the 'feeling' of the vast, beautiful campsites like seen in the anime, but it was pretty immersion-breaking that the background of the one area in the game is very obviously a 2D image around a cylindrical arena, so I wasn't really able to fool myself that I wasn't just in an average VR enclosure. Character models look pretty amazing though.
20 minutes of content blah blah 20€ blah blah you can't even stretch Nadeshiko's cheeks blah blah My wife Nadeshiko brought me a big fluffy dog to pet, 10/10 game
Fumoto Comf!!! This version is really full of cuteness and healing especially because of Nade's energy and the giant fluffy dog. The price might not be worth it for those who aren't into the anime or into CGDCT, but it's a great game for fans of Yuru Camp and those who want to see Nadeshiko's radiant cuteness and to pet a dog. The graphics are the same technically the same as the Motosu version, only a bit duller because there's no animated lake, but still a nice treat especially since we get to see the sunrise in retrospect to the 3rd episode of Season 1. Same criticisms from the Motosu version too, needs a bit more interactivity, music, and exploration, but definitely gives you tons of comfort and healing. The new OST during the sunrise is also a huge plus (sasuga Akiyuki Tateyama again). Overall, it's still a really short game, but it really gives you just the right amount of comf. Plus, there's a dog!!!! And you can pet it!!!!
Cute and funny VR camping! I love Nadeshiko! xD
