I would recommend it yes, it's a fun couple of hours in this genre. it gets a bit laggy sometimes but nothing too annoying and the last achievement is just a bit tedious but still not that bad.
This was such a nice game. I don't enjoy fishing. Unless I need to keep on fishing. And this character with his goofy limbs is so funny, cracked me up a couple of time.
Just Keep Fishing takes the familiar pleasure of catching fish and reshapes it into a compact incremental experience centered on steady growth, increasingly valuable rewards, and the satisfaction of watching a simple activity develop into a much larger operation. Developed by Set Sail Games and published by Aarimous and Thornity, the game is less interested in realistic angling mechanics than in creating an approachable progression loop. Its premise is immediately understandable: fish, earn money, purchase improvements, become more efficient, and continue pushing the economy toward increasingly exaggerated numbers. The fishing itself functions primarily as the engine driving progression rather than as a complicated simulation. Instead of requiring extensive knowledge about bait, weather conditions, fishing techniques, or realistic equipment, the game keeps its systems accessible. Every successful period of fishing contributes toward the next meaningful improvement. This makes it easy to understand what you are working toward at virtually any point, while removing much of the downtime that can make more realistic fishing games feel slow to players who simply want continuous advancement. Upgrading is where much of the satisfaction comes from. Earnings can be reinvested into improvements that strengthen the player's ability to generate even more money, establishing the escalating cycle expected from a good incremental game. Early purchases can feel significant, only to become inexpensive once the economy begins accelerating. That change in scale provides a strong sense of advancement because the player can directly see how previous investments have transformed their earning potential. There is a persistent temptation to continue for another upgrade before stopping, which is exactly the kind of momentum this genre needs. The resource-management elements add some light decision-making without turning the experience into a demanding economic simulator. Deciding when and where to spend accumulated resources gives the progression more purpose than simply watching a number increase. At the same time, the systems remain straightforward enough for players who prefer casual games. It strikes a comfortable balance between active participation and incremental growth, making it suitable for relaxed sessions where constant concentration is unnecessary. Presentation is appropriately playful and uncomplicated. Its colorful 3D visuals fit the relaxed fishing theme, while the perspective provides a clear view of the activity without overwhelming the screen with unnecessary visual information. The overall aesthetic reinforces the game's casual personality. Rather than attempting photorealistic water, fish, or environments, the visual direction supports the more exaggerated nature of the progression. This also helps distinguish it from serious fishing simulators where authenticity is one of the primary selling points. There are additional incentives for players who enjoy completing objectives, including 27 Steam achievements. These provide extra milestones alongside the central economic progression and can encourage players to explore the full extent of what the game offers. Full controller support is another useful feature, particularly for a game designed around relatively straightforward interactions. Family Sharing support also adds some convenience for households using Steam's sharing features. The relatively short and focused nature of the experience should be considered before buying. This is not designed as an enormous incremental game containing hundreds of interconnected systems or an endless series of prestige mechanics. Its smaller scope can actually be one of its strengths for players tired of idle games demanding weeks or months of attention. Progress arrives quickly enough to maintain momentum, and the game does not appear interested in artificially stretching a straightforward concept far beyond what it can comfortably support. That simplicity can also become its biggest limitation. Players searching for deep angling mechanics, sophisticated fish behavior, extensive equipment customization, challenging fishing techniques, or a realistic simulation may find the experience too basic. Similarly, dedicated incremental-game enthusiasts who prefer extremely complicated optimization systems could exhaust its ideas relatively quickly. The enjoyment depends heavily on whether the player finds repeated fishing and economic acceleration satisfying on their own. Steam Deck compatibility is promising from a control standpoint because the game includes full controller support, which naturally suits handheld play. However, players should distinguish controller support from an official Steam Deck compatibility rating. If no official Valve Verified or Playable classification is displayed for the game, its Steam Deck status should be regarded as not officially rated rather than automatically considered Verified. The straightforward nature of the controls suggests it could be a comfortable handheld-style experience, but official compatibility and actual performance should not be assumed solely from controller support. Just Keep Fishing ultimately understands the appeal of incremental progression and wraps it around an appropriately relaxing theme. Its strongest quality is how quickly the player can understand the objective and begin working toward increasingly substantial upgrades. Fishing generates resources, resources create improvements, and those improvements accelerate everything that follows. It is an uncomplicated formula, but the continuous feeling of becoming more productive gives it an addictive quality. For players wanting a lighthearted fishing-themed incremental game that respects a relatively modest time commitment, this is an appealing proposition. It does not need realistic angling physics or sprawling management systems to accomplish its goal. Instead, it concentrates on satisfying progression, escalating earnings, accessible mechanics, and the simple pleasure of making the next upgrade considerably faster than the previous one. cosy game
Fun game, got a little wacky at the end with the constant power ups but it was also fun to pull in so many fish at once. Tech tree felt impactful for the first few levels, less so in the middle, and a couple of very strong power ups at the end. Good, clean family fun.
Great little weekend game 8/10
