About
Not every train that sets out on the Widow's Run is fortunate enough to return. Few conductors have braved this cold expanse and survived, fewer still have braved it and kept their wits intact to tell the tale. Desperate accounts told by men driven to the edge; stories of madness, storms, deadly cold… and strange creatures lurking in the darkness. Fight your way to escape the rails and outrun the storm in this single-player, survival horror game.
As the sole engineer on this journey, you must maintain your locomotive's heat, steam, and speed levels to progress. Be careful, as too much, or too little, of any of these resources could end in disaster.
As if managing an operational locomotive wasn’t difficult enough, you will also have to contend with the creatures haunting Widow’s Run. These creatures are rumored to be attracted to heat and movement, making you and your locomotive a prime target among the icy wastes of the mountain pass.
Only through careful balance will you be able to pilot and defend your train on the treacherous path through Widow's Run. So with your only way out being forward, will you be able to make it to the end?
• Manage the Heat, Steam, and Speed of Your Train - Each dial is a careful balancing act to keep your train moving.
• Defend Yourself - Armed only with a double-barrel shotgun and the sound of the train’s whistle, you must fight off the various creatures who will stop at nothing to end your journey.
• Explore the Mysteries of Widow's Run and Discover its Secrets - Not everything is as it seems. Will you be able to discover the hidden secrets of the mountain pass?
• Short Horror Narrative - Approximately 40 minutes of Playtime.

A really interesting little game that has a few balance issues that make it more frustrating than fun. In games as simple as Locomotive 115, any small issues become too glaringly obvious to ignore. Considering this title has all of 4 mechanics - shoot, brake (which you never use), shovel coal, and release steam, these all have to be in perfect balance to make the game run like the engine you're manning. While everything else is solid, unfortunately, the shoveling coal bit isn't. The gremlins tend to advance too quickly and there isn't a very clear indicator of how bad things are. They appear behind you, so you can't keep tabs on them and while you're supposed to pull the whistle to scare them, sometimes it doesn't seem to work that well. I would frequently get killed by gremlins immediately after pulling the whistle or I'd die because I was keeping tabs on other things and then they would kill you from behind with zero warning. You can visually see them getting closer, if you turn around, but there is no real telling *how* close, because the number and nearness of them seems very inconsistent. It renders the game nearly unplayable, in my opinion, as the information just isn't clear. Repeatedly dying because the game isn't properly communicating its state to you is incredibly frustrating. I'm sure I could have grinded through it, but I prefer playing games, not grinding them. I really do respect what's here. I think it's really neat, tight little game, but I think it needs a balance pass. Locomotive 115 works better as a slightly stressful atmospheric game than it does a highly stressful management game.
Great for the Price
Gonna keep this short and sweet. I don't often play play this style of point-and-click survival strategy game. I often find them somewhat lacking, littered with jump scares, or often feel unclear with their instructions, relying on player deaths to teach the player. Locomotive 115 hits this sweet spot of allowing the player to learn by failure while also giving clear and/or subtle instructions to guide the player. (i.e. playing a small cut scene when showing how and when to use the shotgun). A lot of people see its length as a downside but I see it as a great game you can complete in an afternoon, all packed into a less than 3 hour experience. The sound design is phenomenal, the graphics are perfectly cozy, and the game play is tense but can easily become mesmerizing/hypnotic. The game is great but sadly nobody is really talking about it. For a genre that once dominated the YouTube landscape the amount of reviews posted at the time of my own (92) is quite sad for the amount of effort put into this game. I look forward to seeing what Bucket of Fish puts out in the future. Anyways this reviews is getting too long and if it's too long nobody is gonna read it. Play the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.
Boring, repetitive busywork simulator. Not even remotely scary.
Good short horror game.
my favorite panic-management slop meow +extra points for being a loco engineer
The multitasking is stressful and tense, but never to the point of making you feel like you can't do it. Also, more horror games should take place in the snow. I grabbed it on sale and it was absolutely worth it.
I like Trains, FNAF and FPS. What more do you want xD. Game is good!
Great short game about surviving the night. Trying to balance opposing objectives is stressful environment with great use of sound cues. The game was forgiving but not too forgiving, striking a balance between fair and fun, Liked it alot.
Very fun game, very good. Without going into too much detail here, I think it's a fun neat little game of survival that you can play through in the matter of maybe two hours. It's not easy but also not too hard. In the beginning it may be challenging but once you figure out the mechanics it's quite fun. Only once i found my self wondering why the hell i died there and that was my own fault. It's not a perfect game of course for example you never ever use the brake but for being a small, indie horror game about surviving monsters whilst trying not to bin it is quite fun. If you have the 5-ish Bucks laying around, don't know what to do with them and have a liking for trains, horror or both, then buy the game. And if you do, dont let HIM catch you...
