For a game based on rhythm, it sure likes to kill your rhythm & flow every 3-12 seconds with effectively unskippable tutorials and annoying cut scenes. Seriously there was at least 60 in just the first 40min of gameplay.
Best Rhythm Action adventure game I've played. Great music, fun game play loop/mechanics. Also loved the JOJO references and humor. Would definitely recommend.
give me hi fi rush 2 and my life is yours......
Despite the game’s lively start, it became dull and repetitive toward the end, and I couldn’t wait for the game to end. Every time I approached a spacious area, I’d think, “Oh, here comes a fight.” But because of the sheer number and variety of enemies toward the end (which turns the fight into a chaotic mess), the constant, cumbersome switching between abilities, a very strange and uninteresting character progression system (I didn’t use 70% of what was offered), “secret doors” that only open on a second playthrough (who came up with that?), the boss Mimos, and a very weak and naive ending, I simply cannot recommend this game to you. The first half of the game is thrilling—something new, fresh, with unusual gameplay mechanics that make you want to tap along to the beat of the music (4+)—and… the second half (3-).
They manage to keep the convos between characters light-hearted and humourous while still being well-written. Each character is so memorable, both friend and foe alike. Combat is amazing, the game's flexible in that you can choose many ways to combo your opponent, or just mindlessly use the same one if it consistently works. Everything has impact, and I find myself laughing half the time, glued to my screen the other. If there's one minor gripe I have, its that this is quite an exhausting game to play, cause there's just so much to take in and enjoy. 10/10 *I decided to start my playthrough on the hardest difficulty, so maybe it's a lot less exhausting on the normal setting, just sayin
The beginning of the game feels great, but as the game goes on I found myself being much more annoyed by the clunky teammate mechanics and the frequent breaks for NPC dialog. I'm not sure how far in I made it, but I'm rapidly losing interest in finishing the game.
