Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.

Absolutley criminal what you can do to win spam ODSTS, Hornets, Scorpions, Swarms of marines, its great, wish halo wars 2 was on steam instead of 60 bucks on microsoft's store, P.S. in the extra content the strategy guide no longer works it takes you to the website but you get an error 404 message for the guide
I have played this game since it was on XBOX360, I have always loved it and hoped that they would continue making more of them.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 15: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Halo Wars: Definitive Edition

Great Straightforward RTS

Really worth trying for fans of the strategy genre and Halo
Halo Wars is a very original spin-off from the modern golden age of the RTS genre. It’s a pretty unique and creative title for a franchise that has always been known for its excellent sci-fi first-person shooters entries. Personally, I think it’s a great RTS on its own, even without necessarily relying on the Halo franchise, since its gameplay is really fun, it has an engaging campaign and solid strategy mechanics overall.
Gameplay
Halo Wars has a more simplified game design compared to other strategy games from its era. Still, it keeps the essential strategy mechanics like resource management, economy and army management. Adding to that, resource gathering in this game is mostly automatic, since it relies on production buildings that generate resources over time, which changes the classic economic micro management found in other RTS games. Personally, I’ve always preferred this kind of system, since it allows for more focus on the action and strategic decision-making. On the other hand, the strategic combat system is pretty well-balanced, with clear counters for infantry and vehicles, units that have specific roles and oversimplified controls that make the game easy to manage. However, it’s true that the lack of advanced commands can make the game feel a bit limited in terms of strategic movements such as specific unit formations. I must mention that there are only two factions available: the UNSC and the Covenant. Each one has three commanders to choose from, each with unique units and abilities. Honestly, the lack of variety in factions can actually make the game feel a bit repetitive, especially in skirmish matches and multiplayer. Nevertheless, the gameplay is still very enjoyable and becomes more engaging as the game progress.
Art and World Design
This game has a really appealing cinematic visual style, with clean and polished cutscenes and environments that look amazing and that still hold up surprisingly well to this day. I really liked the level design for the main campaign. The maps are nice and each one feels unique and enjoyable. About the unit models, they are very detailed and easy to recognize during combat. As for the story, the game does a great job expanding the Halo universe. It adds interesting lore and introduces new characters and events that feel like a natural part of the franchise.
Music and Sound effects
Unlike other spin-offs with soundtracks that feel disconnected from the original material, this game's music feels like a natural extension of the Halo series. It’s one of the most polished aspects of the game, and also one of the most enjoyable, along with its story. Lastly, when it comes to the sound effect design, the game does a great job overall. Weapons, explosions, and unit voices sound faithful to the original content, and they also help maintain a more intense and immersive gameplay.
Great Halo RTS game Played it on both Xbox 360 and Xbox one before getting it on pc Only one issue is the game sometimes crashes on boot and some fixes are 1. Delete all files inside of C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\HaloWarsDE\savegame 2. Disable steam cloud sync
So happy I get to play this game again after selling my Xbox. Best RTS of all time! Campaign is great, soundtrack and everything about the gameplay. It's easy to pick up but hard to master. If you're a fan of Halo or RTS games then you need to play this. Sad we never got Halo Wars 3 because 2 wasn't as good as this one.
This game's development is a complete underdog story.
I wish they would have put Halo Wars 2 on steam
