https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ch9d7DQSQFc The perfect place to start if you want to see how Lara Croft became the Tomb Raider. This reboot changes things up with a much darker, grittier survival story on a creepy island. The gameplay is really fun with a mix of gritty combat, hunting for upgrades, and quick-time events. It's definitely more action-heavy than actual tomb-raiding, but it's a fantastic, solid start to the trilogy.
It was a wonderful and exciting trip; I enjoyed every moment.Great start And the ending was not bad, it was wonderful ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 8/10
Perhaps the perfect combination of fun, cinematic action and responsive gameplay without being too complex. Highly re-playable the same way a favorite movie is rewatchable.
Next to Anniversary best in the series.
Story 7.5/10 The story was decent but nothing special. It didn't leave me with a deep emotional feeling after finishing the game. It's basically a classic Tomb Raider adventure about treasure, ancient mysteries, and lost history. Unfortunately it lacks the emotional moments that really make you connect with the characters. The plot is very straightforward and predictable, with no major plot twists that surprised me. The side characters also felt pretty bland. The only one I really liked was Roth my man alongside Lara. I also want to praise Lara's voice actress because she did an excellent job conveying emotion throughout the game. Gameplay – 8.7/10 The strongest part of this game is definitely the gameplay. It's action-packed from beginning to end and feels like you're playing through an action movie. If you're a fan of blockbuster action films I highly recommend giving this game a try. At first I thought it would be a completely linear story-driven game but I was pleasantly surprised by the RPG elements. You can change outfits, upgrade, craft weapons, unlock new skills, fast travel between checkpoints, explore the island to discover collectibles and hidden treasures. The combat is also satisfying. You can fight using melee attacks, ranged weapons, or even take a stealth approach. Some of my favorite moments were the cinematic action sequences escaping a burning temple, being chased by a crashing airplane, running through collapsing buildings, sliding down rivers or cliffs and fighting groups of enemies while using explosive objects around the environment. My only major complaint is the camera work during cutscenes. The camera shakes way too much making the cinematography feel messy. It honestly feels like someone is filming with a handheld camera without any stabilization. It made me feel dizzy and even a little nauseous at times. Environment / Atmosphere / Graphics – 8.7/10 Considering this game was released in 2013 the graphics still hold up really well. Back then they must have been incredibly impressive. Although Tomb Raider isn't an open-world game the map is surprisingly large and every location feels unique and refreshing. Since the story takes place on a mysterious island you'll travel through a wide variety of beautiful environments, each with its own atmosphere and even different weather conditions. From mountains and snowy areas to caves, ancient ruins, jungles, rivers, temples, every location fits the adventurous tone perfectly and keeps the journey visually interesting. Overall this was a solid game. It never gave me the heavy emotional impact that I usually look for in story-driven games but it was a fun adventure from start to finish. I can definitely understand why it won Game of the Year and why it was considered such an important release back in 2013. At the time, it felt fresh, modern and more creative than many other action games. As someone who loves story driven games the story always plays a huge role in my final score. While Tomb Raider excels in gameplay, exploration and cinematic action, its story simply wasn't memorable enough to make it one of my personal favorites. My overall score 3.7/5.
Story - 7/10 Story was nothing very exceptional but it was good, didn't bore me, the plot was guessable, pacing was good I would say, the ending was good too but not epic, could've been a bit better I guess. Gameplay - 8/10 Gameplay was good but after a point it felt a bit repetitive, even after upgrading some skills there was not much new things and I'm talking about combat here, the close combat to be exact but it's fine, the new gears being unlocked while progressing the game was good, controls were also easy, the camera stability was something that I felt a bit irritating in some places, I did all the locations 100% and that was fun to do, finding all the relics and all, gps cache was really pain though but yes I did that all in 1 playthrough. Graphics - 7/10 Graphics for this game is good, but as I played this 2013 game in 2026, obviously it cannot be 10/10 but again for that time the graphics were really good, the daytime scenes especially the one snowy location's graphics felt even better, the skin textures was really good and realistic too, the world/locations were also good a different than each other which I really love in the games. Overall Rating - 7/10 So I played this game for the 2nd time, I finished this back in 2014 but now I'm replaying some of the games which I played a long ago, some games which I didn't finish, so replaying this felt really new to me as I forget the plot and all after 1-2 years, so yeah it did felt like a new experience, not the Lara the OG gamers might know but it is a really good origin story of Lara. Now moving on to Rise of the Tomb Raider which again will be my 2nd play time after 8 years.
I bought a stunning game for 20 cents (I was going to buy a Deus Ex game, but it was in a bundle with this one) It has great parkour and awesome combat; all i have to say is that the game has very good gameplay. It takes place on an island where Lara Croft and her team get stuck after a storm, and they try to find their way out. Lara Croft plays a major role by helping her team the most and not letting any obstacles stop her. Overall, I would give it an 8.9/10.
