all anyone really needs to say about this is: Tim Curry ROCKS!!! but i will also say this: one of the first computer games i played, and yes when it was new. it is a classic. the sequels, although trying to be graphically and mechanically up to date for the time they were released, felt less and less satisfying than this game which looks like something you made at school with the first version of MSPaint. it was because of this game that i bought the sequels as they came out, but it was "never as good as the first time". why? the story, the writing, the characters, the setting. most games don't even really try, or if they do they go up their own bunghole with extreme nerd OCD "lore" etc. this kind of game experience (giving the broad strokes and enough fine details to make them seem real) is an absolutely lost art in most forms of entertainment today.
I played a lot of the original Sierra games when I was a kid, but never played this one (probably due to the adult themes). My daughter insisted I buy this series because I "don't know all the answers". Like the story, the fact that it has some well named actors doing the voices was awesome. The ending was too quick for my taste, but I liked it overall.
I recommend this but with reservations. Mainly about using dosbox on a modern pc. You will likely need to alter some of the config file to make it playable. Screen size and then more importantly setting the cycles to "fixed 20000". There was a game breaking issue with it being set to auto that made it impossible to do a timed task. Anyways once you get past this, and then also past some of the old school pixel hunting involved in a 90's point and click adventure game, it was a lot of fun! I really enjoyed the pixel art, voice acting (OH but here's another thing. I couldn't tolerate the narrator but if that bothers you just turn it off) and the story. So yeah. This was good but a little bit of a struggle so be prepared for that.
Отличная детективная игра.
Easily my favorite of the OG Sierra titles - dark, moody, and dangerous. Sure doesn't hurt to have Tim Curry and Mark Hamill in the same package, either.
Un verdadero clasico de SIERRA, un juego verdaderamente menospreciado, que en lo personal creo que ha marcado un antes y un despues respecto del uso de las voces de actores en videojuegos.
There is no music and the audio pops, this version kinda sucks :(
Too old, I would like a remaster or remake.
Un clásico. Apasionante aventura gráfica que cada ciertos años vuelve a llamarte para que te la vuelvas a pasar.
Its a pretty okay albeit dialogue heavy point and click.
