The Drifter

this game was so good!! i initially bought it because it looked so stylish, and the story, music, and gameplay were just as amazing. the art was absolutely gorgeous with a lot of memorable scenes. the story was funny and devastating and hopeful and clever all at the same time. the opening music was really what did it for me; i was immediately hooked and stayed engaged the whole way through. i genuinely wish i could play this game for the first time again lmao- absolutely recommend <3 EDITING THE REVIEW TO INCUDE HOW MUCH I LOVED THE VOICE ACTING BC I SOMEHOW FORGOT THE FIRST TIME

If you're thinking of buying this game you most probably should. The puzzles are just difficult enough - I often had to scratch my head a bit but the solution was always logical in a way you could use reason to find instead of just trying to use every item until it works. The voice acting is amazing - Mick's constant narration of what's happening really brings the story to life. The story is gripping - I was hooked from beginning to end and felt very satisfied when the credits rolled. I guess the only thing that you should consider is the price. It took me around 8-10 hours to finish and I wouldn't say there's any replay value. I would say it's totally worth it though, especially on sale.

El recurso de viajes en el tiempo se siente como algo fresco, que añade una desacostumbrada sensación de urgencia a un género bastante pausado. Realmente me hizo revivir la sorpresa de esa primera partida a Monkey Island o The Thing. En sus mejores momentos, [b] The Drifter está al nivel de los más grandes[/b]. Sin embargo, en su mayor virtud encontramos su principal defecto: algunas secciones de ensayo-error son demasiado reiterativas y sientes que ese ritmo tan bien logrado se tambalea. Además, su historia cae presa de su propia ambición: en el último tramo aparecen explicaciones superficiales, un villano poco convincente y una conclusión que echa por tierra la gran expectación. Aun así, The Drifter es una experiencia fantástica, absorbente y, como digo, muy difícil de soltar. Una de las sorpresas del año, firmada por un estudio estupendo y por el talentosísimo Dave Lloyd. Just fantastic, a 10/10 for these types of narrative games. They checked every box, but not only that, they took it to the next level with really original and cool gameplay mechanics which were perfectly entwined in to the story. Unfortunately I can't go into details because it would spoil a great story but color me impressed. Whole heartedly recommend.

Everything is great about this one, from visuals, through the sounds to the lore. Very much worth the time and money.

(WARNING: DONT READ FURTHER IF YOU WANT TO GO IN TOTALLY BLIND. MY ADVICE? DONT SEARCH UP ANYTHING ABOUT THIS GAME. FIND OUT THINGS FOR YOURSELF AND YOU WILL FEEL INCREDIBLY REWARDED) Let me get this out of the way first: THIS GAME IS PHENOMINAL. it had me guessing every step of the way, looking for clues as to who everyone was, what they were doing and if they were lying. Carter is a phenomnial protagonist who is redeemable despite his flaws. everyone is likable too, the DA has to be my favourite and his voice actor totally kills it with every line he's given. its got some amazing game design too, breaking away from the that horrid pit every adventure game falls in where its just "click everything until it does something" i was blown away by how it kept hitting the home runs again and again and AGAIN! i will humbly wait to see more from this studio, they have earned a colossal amount of respect from me. if anyone from the studio is reading this, be it programmers or voice actors...ROCK ON!

I wasn`t expecting such a good story when I started playing this game. For real, I bought it because it was in my steam-recommended queue and I read something about escaping a cemitery - it was just it. But the game surprised me with the quality of the puzzles - none are so difficult that recquired a walkthrough or so easy that I got bored - and the narrative. The voicing of the characters and the narrator are more than enough reason to play this kind of sci-fi/fantasy story.

Point and click game with a good story.
