About

Frostpunk 2 elevates the city-survival genre to a new level. Take the role of a Steward and lead your city through a cascade of calamities taking place in a postapocalyptic, snowy setting. Build large city districts with their string of endless needs and demands. Navigate through conflicting interests of factions that populate your metropolis. As the needs of the city grow and factional power at its core rises, only you can steer the society towards an uncertain future.

The world is overtaken by an ever present winter, which makes expansion of the city the only way for the survival of mankind. In order to grow, the metropolis needs resources like coal and oil, just like its citizens require food and warmth. In Frostpunk 2, it's your job to tackle this never ending circle of supply and demand.

The number of your citizens steadily grows, making the task of governing them and satisfying their demands all the more challenging. As the Steward you will have to maneuver carefully across the interests of many groups inhabiting the city.

People of your city want to have a voice in how you run things. Each faction has its own ideology and ideas for the future, yet they also have one thing in common - insatiable thirst for power. Choose your allies in the Council Hall wisely.

Make tough life-and-death decisions as you allocate heat across your city, supported by new research topics and heat-oriented laws. Choose districts that need the most warmth with the help of the Heat Management system with a detailed temperature overlay.

The story of Frostpunk 2 introduces a multi-chapter saga set in the frozen wastes. Spanning across the life of the Steward this campaign lets you feel the burden of leadership as you take the responsibility for thousands of lives. At the same time, the sandbox mode called Utopia Builder with infinite play time leaves you room for boundless social and infrastructural experiments.

Frostpunk 2 comes with a comprehensive and versatile modding tool. FrostKit will let you create your own maps, models, and scenarios inside the game. Now, only your imagination can limit the destination your city is heading to!

Not the same game anymore
I loved frostpunk 1, as a lot of people do. I agree this game pulls away from the unique elements of frostpunk 1. It's not a bad game, but personally I found it incredibly challenging to the point that it was not fun. And I played on the easiest difficulty. And this is coming from someone who played on regular difficulties with ease in frostpunk 1. I restarted so many times, watched youtube videos, and then quit after getting overwhelmed and seeming unable to actually achieve a half decent result in the game. Personally, it just crosses that threshold of too much managing for me. It's a shame because it is a cool game, but odd that they recommend frostpunk 1 veterans to play on higher difficulties when I can't even complete the game on the easiest difficulty and with doing outside research to try and improve my skills.
Я сдала общество на 55 баллов, может поэтому у меня не получается управлять государством?
Not recommend for Frostpunk 1 fans. Simply: Frostpunk 2 shifts from Man vs Nature to Man vs Man.
Didnt know a game could be this badly optimized
If you loved FP1 for specifically what it was. I'm not sure FP2 has the same draw. 10 minutes I've looked at it, sure. This review wouldn't be worth anything to the numbers. But it failed to draw me in. That is all I need to say about it.
////// I don't care, so I repost my rant and pretend it's a review ///// I now understand why people dislike or even hate this game. I love the first one — it’s a unique game with its flaws, and some DLCs like Rifts and On the Edge are mediocre. But overall it’s still a masterpiece compared to this one. I’ve just finished my first blind playthrough on Steward difficulty and achieved peace, and I have to say: the plot is one of the most nonsensical things I’ve seen in years. It started well: the Captain is gone and coal is running out — a strong premise. But what were you doing for the last 30 years that you never noticed a massive dreadnought leaking oil, with oil-powered machinery scattered across the wasteland? And how did New London lose all contact with other settlements? Alright, we find oil and survive another whiteout, but then for some reason we need to go back to Winterhome. Why?! Why does New London suddenly need to settle there to ensure its survival? The place literally has nothing. It’s filled with toxic fumes, and its generator has been dead for more than 30 years — not that it was doing great when it was alive. How could it possibly contain anything New London needs? It gets even worse with the colonisation route. The place has nothing. You’re basically settling there for the sake of it. It produces nothing, its output serves only itself, and it exports absolutely nothing back to New London. It makes no economic or logistical sense. Then there’s the civil war arc, where factions decide that the best way to ensure survival is to destroy the city. Even lowering their fervour to zero doesn’t stop them — only scripted events resolve it. But after you pass a couple of “durable tools” laws and build a few factories, suddenly everyone is friends again. It feels artificial. And what about Winterhome? Why exactly did we settle there again? Even if I ignore the story, the gameplay is weak. I played blindly and still reached the Golden Path ending without any real issues. The only meaningful resource in the game feels like money — you constantly ask for it and that’s it. I didn’t build a single hub, and I didn’t need any additional heating beyond insulation. Most buildings and research feel unnecessary. And the most “radical” thing the game ever pushed back on was paid maternity leave. The first game was harder, more complex, and more thoughtfully designed. This one feels like visual polish over a simplified system. In short: weak plot, shallow gameplay, and poor performance.
I can't recommend game it in currect state. - Completly crashed several times in main campain after chapter 2. (Unreal engine crash report) - Menus and UX is bugged: settlment overview lags in random moments, switching between districts is bad, some tultips and overview are showing incorecct information(heating overview, workforce sometimes, e.t.c) - There are too much research ideas and laws and they feels kinda undeveloped or bugged. - Messy and tedious UI in late-game when you try to manage several settlments. - Music is so blatant in compare to first part that I muted it at all. For pros: - Idea is great, I liked how devs made a new game instead of yet another DLC for first part. Feels more like strategy rather then city builder. It get me hooked for hours, but not as good as first part.
