Developer has good ideas but abandons games before completing them, did the same thing with another game they made called pixel piracy will probably do it with their upcoming game :(
abandoned
Abandoned by dev. Would never had gotten it if I knew the Dev has a habit of dropping projects before moving on.
Dead game that had potential but was subsequently dropped by it's team. Don't buy.
Had potential but was eventually dropped by the dev at some point. It is overcomplicated in how you control and do things, so generally speaking UI is no good and that part was never fixed. This is Strike 2 at this point, the previous project Pixel Piracy was also dropped half way and never finished even though again the game had potential. I don't believe unless it's F2P that one should spend money on upcoming at some point Pixel Piracy 2 at this point. This here is a pattern.
I remember when I first got this game during its early access and I loved the whole concept, even if it was rough around the edges, I just had to stop playing it because my laptop could barely run it. Once I got a better PC, I decided to fire it up again and I was disappointed to see a lot of changes that made the starting and subsequent experience more tedious and overly-complicated than I remembered. Also a lot of the other reviews claim that this game has been abandoned and I guess I'll just take their word for it. You'll regret buying this.
Abandoned, also bad.
I strongly recommend not buying this game, I've put in over 50+hrs to be able to say that. It's incredibly disappointing. As far as I know it's been abandoned/discontinued and this game isn't close enough to being complete. I wanted to give the game a good try, give it a chance to win me over, but it almost did but then utterly failed. The first experience with the game will have you rage quitting almost immediately. Second, third and fourth time too. The game is very difficult and your always struggling, mostly because there isn't much tutorial or explaination as what to do. Technology is very important and you can't survive without obtaining certain tech. That takes awhile in of itself but the research tree isn't self explainitory and if you don't know what perks/benefits from certain techs you need you are screwed. It takes several attempts and different games to realise how to get a base functioning. Since food and water are very scarce, if you don't achieve a certain level of functionality in your base your game is over. The game is very tedious and time consuming. You'll find yourself constantly farming for bandages and suger candies which take up most your colonists labour, leaving you with a couple guys to advance the rest of the base. Precious resource isn't always available on the map so if the map doesn't have good sources of leather and you accidently waste it on something you'll be stuck waiting and waiting for any little bit of it to get ahead. In order to survive conflict you have to have large numbers of colonists and they need to be fully armed, both of which bring troubles. Without armour and weapons your colonists die and get hurt to fast and you'll run out of materials to create health items. It takes a long time to arm everybody and your in a race against time to get a good source of food and water. You need to do big DPS on enemies by outnumbering them as they are often much stronger than your colonists but without weapons and armour obtaining food becomes very difficult, especially when most your labour is dedicated to other neccessities too. All this and it can easily soak up hour after hour in real time playing the game. The AI are idiots and you can't personally order them to do vital things. Sometimes you need a colonist to eat, or sleep, or heal but for some reason they refuse to do it by themselves and get themselves killed. Sometimes before you attack enemies in an objective you have that one pesky colonist that refuses to participate by refusing to heal. Bad hygiene grants negative buffs, you need soap to improve your hygiene but using soap doesn't seem to be implimented in the game yet, so once your smelly you get a major debuff. You also have no access to toilets until later in the game and you'll need to squish your poop or it'll turn into a golem that can really hurt you. If you smoosh the poop you get a 1/2 armour debuff you cant remove, but if you don't squish your poop hordes of poop monsters might summon at the same time and kill everyone. There's much more wrong with the game but my last and most important complaint is that it's not a finished game and while the game can be fun assuming the struggles you went through will pay off as you get further in the game you suddenly reach the end with no technologies to fix the immense lack of problems your colony perpetually have. Sadly, this game doesn't have a mid or end game and your first experience with the game is as far as you get.. It could have been a really cool game, I like a lot about it but it has way too many fatal flaws. As soon as I finished the last mission, hoping I'd techonlogically advance through my squalor I closed the game and wrote this review. This game is summation is very disappointing I noticed right after writing this that apparently this game is in early release. That wouldn't bother me too much but the early release doesn't offer enough to justify a purchase of the game and as many people have pointed out it seems abandoned.
This game was challenging and an interesting take on a colony management survival game. However, the most important thing to keep in mind is that this game has been ABANDONED by the developer. It seems the developer has abandoned other games before they are complete. I would recommend avoiding this game as well as all past and future titles from Vitali Kirpu.
There's a really cool game idea here, but it's missing some QOL love and features. Development has stopped. Don't buy full price at this point
